Chapter Four
Teenager Found Dead at Party-
Last night emergency services were called to the scene of a local party after a distress call was made by an anonymous attendee. Emergency Services arrived approximately 4 minutes after the call was made and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officials. Prior to the original belief of the emergency responders, the cause of the young man's death was not alcohol poisoning - it was murder. The victim was injected with a syringe full of potassium chloride just under the kneecap, which then caused him to go into a cardiac arrest. We believe that with all the bustle the victim would've been bustled around with all the people and not felt the needle until it was too late. The name of the victim has not yet been released but our thoughts and prayers are with the latest family to suffer from a loved one being taken too soon with a brutal death.
Grunting, the girl pulled herself up from the ground. She had blood pouring out of her nose and a darkening bruise forming around her left eye. The man stood over her, offering his hand to help her up.
"You need to work on your right punch and swing kick," He told her when she was standing, before walking off to his office.
"Thanks, coach," she called out sarcastically as she limped over to the punching bags before violently attacking it, letting out all her fury. Her body was covered in a mixture of tattoos and scars from her previous jobs. She'd left home when she turned sixteen and ever since had had many different jobs to provide with. Most of them on the wrong side of the law. Bex's main income source being underground boxing, where she spent all her spare time practising. She was preparing to fight her biggest rival, who she only fought once before. The odds were in her favour the last time, resulting in a victory for Bex, but this time she wasn't so sure. She wanted to make sure she was in the best physical shape and give it her all. Stepping into the ring, Bex was face to face with her mentor. He held out a hand, which she swung at multiple times, in order to strengthen her right punch.
The news hit Evangeline like a bullet. Her sister had told her to come home, so they could talk face to face. She assumed it was about school or JIU but they were not the words that left Charlotte's mouth.
"Are you okay?" Charlotte asked. Evangeline was so shocked she didn't know whether to scream or cry. She sat there, staring at the wall before her phone next to her began to ring, it was finally the person she wanted to ring for the past few weeks but now she couldn't care less. Charlotte swiped the phone away before Evangeline had the chance to grab it, she took it out of the room, leaving Evangeline to grieve alone. It wasn't long before a loud, incessant Charlotte was heard through the thin walls.
"How could you do this? You arrogant, deceitful, dishonest human being!" Evangeline couldn't help but laugh at her younger sister yelling at her soon to be ex-husband.
"You're crazy!"
BANG! BANG! BANG! Three shots were fired from the gun held in the girl's hand, slicing the target in half with the force. The angle of the shot leaving the once whole target halved. Classified as the youngest markswoman in her unit, sixteen-year-old Ellie Blossom, was dreading her family dinner later on that night. She'd been considering not to go as usual, but she'd run out of excuses to avoid another tantalizing dinner with her family, especially as she knew that her sister Harper would be there. After her confrontation with her sister before the hearing, Ellie hadn't spoken to her twin and she was dreading the aftermath. Harper would have plenty of questions, questions Ellie wasn't prepared to answer and she knew that Harper wouldn't give up until she had the answer. She was conflicted.
"I'm not going to spend my evening arguing with a child! Good night!" He slammed the phone down on the table, yelling in frustration. Taylor, came in to see what caused her husband to be upset. "I'm fine," he replied. "I just want to be alone." The pain on his face told her he wasn't fine. He was mad. Very mad.
Half his life was Evangeline, now it wasn't. As a young adult, he'd fallen in love twice. He wasn't sure how or why, but he did. He tried to pick one of them but it only resulted in disaster both ways. He thought about leaving them both but that was an explosion waiting to happen. The only reasonable answer was to date both of them, have two weddings, two homes, two families. At the time it seemed like the best solution, but life has its cruel ways of disappointing us. Evangeline finding out about his other life was devastating and he knew he couldn't find comfort in Taylor, he called the one person who couldn't be mad at him for long.
Another day, another class over. Her chemistry class just ended and her feet hurt. She was looking forward to going home and drinking the last of her wine and watching the television. What she wasn't expecting, was a call from her distant son. A few years ago, they had a fallout and never resolved the issue. Was this him apologising from the hurt he caused all those years ago? Curious to find out what the reason for calling was, she answered her phone, "This is Antonia."
"Mom, how are you?""Brayden, what a surprise."
