4th of July: Part 2

"Baby we have to get ready, we have to go to dinner". I go over to the bed and jump on Cari, who is half asleep. I guess we went to hard.
"Okay baby just let me shower then we can go okay?" She starts to get up and rubs her eyes.
"Well good for you, I have to shower too". I look at her with a smirk on my face.
I turn around and go towards the bathroom, turning the shower on. I hope we don't do anything in the shower that will take too long because we have to get to dinner in an hour. Thankfully I got reservations. Tonight will be perfect.

30 minutes later

Showering didn't take long, which is weird due to the fact that Cari takes 2 hour long showers. So now we are driving in the car to our destination. I got on a black shirt with black ripped jeans with my casual converse. I couldn't find a nice outfit so this will do. Cari has on a nice shirt with high waisted jeans and her converse on, hot as always.
I'm kinda nervous to be honest, like what if something bad happens and I don't get to propose and... shit- THE RING!!!
Fuck fuck fuck fuck, I forgot the ring. Oh my. What am I going to do. Okay breath breath, don't make it obvious. My hands start to shake and I look over at Cari who is just looking out the window.
Okay think Shannon, okay. I will text Miles, hopefully he answers and I will ask him to come and drop it in the car. Okay maybe that will work. Hopefully.
We arrive at the restaurant which is quite fancy now that I take a second look. I get out of the car and head over to Cari and open her door for her, giving her a kiss when she gets out.
"Baby why are you being so romantic today, this isn't usually like you?"
"Cari it's Fourth of July why not be happy". I say with alittle hesitation because I'm not full of happiness right now, just pure anxiety and nerves. As we are walking towards the restraint I shoot Miles a quick text, thanking the god he replies quick and agrees to bring the ring. Yes.
"We have a reservation for Mrs. Beveridge and Mrs. Fletcher..." wait I just said Mrs. shit, did I give it away. I look over at Cari and she gives me a look. I gave it away didn't I. Fuck.
"Okay right this way we have a table already ready for you too". Okay just breath Shannon.
"Thank you". I Nicely thank the waitress.
So I order a nice plate of Pasta with garlic bread, I mean I don't want to get anything too fancy, this place is a bit too expensive. Cari orders the same thing and when the food comes out, Cari smiles. I'm happy that she's happy and hopefully tonight she will be happy too.
After we are done eating I get a text by Miles...
Miles: The ring is in the middle console of the car. Good luck :)
Me: Thanks Miles, I owe you huge ❤️
Miles: Don't worry about it, just be happy tonight. :)
I put my phone away so Cari doesn't see anything and I clean everything up and pull out my card for the bill. I look over at Cari smiling and I smile back.
"Shannon why are you doing all this for me, I mean it's nice and all but it's too much." I look at her with a confusing look.
"Babe I just wanted to have a good day with you, take you to dinner and spend the night with you".
I get up, readying myself to leave, Cari does the same.
We're walking towards my car and I make sure nothing in the car is messed up so Cari knows. So I go over and open the door for Cari being a nice girlfriend that I am. I get in the other side and start the car, rolling the windows down and putting music on.
"Baby where we going now?"
"It's a surprise...". I give her a smirk.
Cari just smiles and I reach my hand over and grab her thigh "an adventure we may take".
It's been a while since we have been driving, I decided to take her to the beach, our favorite spot and just walk along the shore. When I pull up and park I see Cari getting happy.
"Yay the beach, baby I love the beach".
"I know crazy that's why we are here". I giggle
We both get out of the car and walk towards the sand, taking our shoes off. As I begin to walk I can feel the cool sand since between my toes. It's a soothing feeling. I look over at Cari and just smile, she's just so pretty and everything I ever wanted.
I walk over and grab Her hand. We start walking towards the water and Cari jolts our of my hand... "tag your it!!"
"Oh really". Tag, she really wants to play tag. Does she not know I ran track in highschool.
"Baby you know I'm faster than you right".
"Doesn't mean you can catch me..."
She's about 20 feet away from me and I start running towards her quickly catching up. I run up to her and wrap my arms around her, picking her up and spinning her around.
When I put her down I sit on the sand..
"Dam I guess I have to work out more, I'm all pooped out".
Cari joins me and when I lay my body down She does the same. We just look up and the beautiful sunset. Just purely amazing .
That reminds me, if I want to make it to the spot we have to leave in a couple minutes.
"Hey baby let's go somewhere else?"
"Okay as long as your not going to murder me in an alleyway".
"Um...."
"I'm kidding baby let's go". She gets up grabbing my hand to help me up.
This plan is perfect and I just hope everything goes well. We are currently driving to the spot where it's all going to happen. To be honest I completely nervous. I just hope Cari appreciates everything because I just love her to death.
It's been about an hour of driving and I look over at Cari looking out the window. I reach my hand over and place it on her thigh. I turn the music up alittle and put my hand back. Cari grabs my hand and squeezes it. Looking over at me and I can see her in the corner of my eye, she smiling. Just smiling. Pure happiness is expressed on her face, pure love and that's the only thing I need in my life.
We reach our destination. The rock, the rock that Cari would always go to when upset. On top of this mountain range in California. It's purely beautiful and it's surprising to pick such a nice place to go to when upset. The rock is quite big and it sits in the perfect view of California.
I look at my phone to see what time it is, 7:30 perfect. Perfect timing to propose and watch beautiful fireworks.
Cari squeezes my hand and looks at me with excitement in her eyes. "Baby this is my rock".
She gets out of the car and goes over to it, feeling it with her fingers.
"Baby this rock, it was my safe place. It's where I went to help my sadness".
I look at her with a small smile on my face.
"I know baby, I remember always finding you here when we would fight or when something happened. I remember in highschool you would get mad at things and just leave and come here. I guess it did help you."
She reaches her hand out for me to take. I accept her request and sit next to her while she rest her head on my shoulder. Babe I'm so happy, I'm sitting here with the love of my life in my favorite childhood spot and just look at the view. It's just perfect."
I take this moment as my chance and I start my little moment...
I stand up in front of her...
"Cari, it's so easy to love someone when things are perfect and everything's wonderful. But to love someone when things are difficult, when it's not perfect, when they're messing up, flaws are seen, mistakes are made, I think that's what allows you to see what love really is. Anyone can love someone who is doing everything right, who has their life together, they have it all figured out. But to love someone at their lowest, to love someone despite how broken they are, when their lost and when your willing to stand by them to pick them up. That's the mission that I've been willing to take my whole life with you. It's been a long journey and we've been through thick and thin. But I'm not really to stop and I'm not ready to give up, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. You make me so happy and truly myself when you around. You have given me freedom and hope. And I want to keep doing that for the rest of my life... Cari Elise Fletcher, Will you marry me?"
I'm kneeling here in complete fear, not knowing what's about to happen. I said everything I needed and I'm currently shedding a tear.
"Baby I don't know what to say". She says while crying.
"Well I'm kidding hoping you say yes..."
"Of course omg shannon yes, yes, a million yesses!!"
I stand up and grab Cari pulling her to me and hugging her tightly. I pull her away and grab her hand, putting the ring on her finger.
"Baby it's so pretty". I say to her
"Shan I'm so happy, how did you hide this for so long?"
"Trust me babe, it was pry the hardest thing I could ever do".
I pull her into me and kiss her, the fireworks currently going off. Perfect
I couldn't ask for anything more than this moment, just pure happiness.
We sit on the rock and enjoy the night as we watch the fireworks. Putting my arm around her shoulder, I lean over and give my fiancé a kiss
