"All right crew" I announced over the radio "we've just been tipped off that a PVAN surface group is heading to Taipei at full speed. We are to intercept and sink them."
Eventually we got through the Taiwan strait and of the coast of Taipei where the Taiwanese were on full military alert, there were at least a dozen ships in the harbour and around the port.
Jaime taps me on the shoulder and says
"Quite the party,huh."
"Hmm, by nightfall we'll be intercepting that group although I've got this feeling that..."
"Of what" he asks
"Of guilt" I reply
"Why sir?"
"Because I just feel like we are abandoning them to their fate by sailing out to intercept this force."

My mind is racing,
'Where's that bloody surface group.'
'We haven't missed it have we?'
'It's been 4 hours now where are they'

Just as I was about to call off the operation a crackle of radio comes from the sonar room.
"Conn, Sonar new contact bearing 054, designated Sierra 1."
Immediately Johnston replys
"Get an IFF on that contact ASAP!"
An agonising two minutes pass but then the long awaited reply comes through
"Conn, Sonar Sierra 1 is classed as Jangwei class Chinese destroyer."
My No.2 (Johnston) turns to me and with a tone of almost desperation asks
"Orders Sir?!"
