Chapter Five  

Reunion

Damian's POV

A scream jerks me awake and I blink my eyes rapidly to bring my gaze into focus. As my sight clears I find that the hunk has dismounted and is defending an innocent woman and her three children from bandits. I search for why the woman screamed and I see blood flowing down the knight's back from a stab wound to his shoulder. I shake my head clearing what little sleep that was still there and dismount from the horse and tie the reins to a nearby tree tightly enough so she won't run away in her terror but loose enough to untie once the knight can ride again.  

I stroke the horse until she is calm enough so I won't have to worry about her hurting herself. Once she is relaxed I turn my focus to the small family and shout out, "AURA DOME!!" As I make the barrier around the family I am already in the process of sending the bandits skittering backwards so I can get the knight inside the barrier as well. Once I have him sitting down against the tree within the barrier I turn to the mother and ask, "Can you tend to his wound?" She nods and comes forward as I turn to exit the barrier only to be stopped by the hunk as he grabs hold of my hand.  

"There is no way you can defeat that many bandits young mage." He says through the pain of the wound on his shoulder. "*laugh* Relax knight I'm too powerful for them to kill." I say as I disentangle my hand from his and walk out of the barrier. The moment I'm free and know I won't harm the ones inside I summon up my newest spell combination I learned two days ago. "AQUA STORM!!!!" I yell out bringing forth a wall of water drops that zoom out, aided by the wind, and pierce the bandits' armor and shields. As soon as I am satisfied with the outcome I cease my attack and say to the remaining bandits as I bring forth my flame. "Better run now or I'll fry you alive."  

As the remaining bandits run off I lower the Aura Dome and turn to the knight with a grin. "Told you." I say as I walk over to the horse and stroke her withers. "Ouch!" I look over my shoulder at the knight and see that he has another injury on his outer left thigh. I chuckle as I stop stroking the horse and make my way over to him. "Don't move and try not to interrupt my focus." I place my hands over the wound and close my eyes as I concentrate on healing it. I feel the warmth of my healing light move down my arms and out through my hands to swiftly seal the wound on his thigh. I take my hand away as I open my eyes. I look up into the hunk's eyes and smile before I turn on my heel and walk back to the horse and mount her.  

A few hours later I see the Royal Capital come into view and I send my twin a mental hug before saying, 'Guess who's gonna be meeting the King in a few hours.' I feel his excitement as he responds with, 'No way! You're coming to the capital? Wait, how...I mean the three years aren't up yet.' I laugh in my head and tell him a little white lie. 'True but a knight came and told that hermit the king needed me sooner than expected.'

Dominic's POV

I stop eating when I hear my brother in my head. 'Guess who's gonna meet the King in a few hours.' I nearly stop breathing as my excitement escalates. 'No way! You're coming to the capital? Wait, how...I mean the three years aren't up yet.' I hear him laugh in my head as he replies, 'True but a knight came and told that hermit the king needed me sooner than expected.' I'm out of my seat and out the door before I knew what I was doing. My behavior must have alerted the princes since they followed after me. I didn't bother speaking I just made my way up to the guard tower and before the current one could say anything I swipe the spyglass from him and search the horizon until I see my brother. "OH MY GOD!!!!" I shout out startling the guard and the princes as I give the spyglass back to the guard I rush back down and head to the stables.  

"Wait up Dominic!" I slow down waiting for Gabriel to catch up. "What's up? You seem so excited." I glance over at him and say, "Just follow if you really want to know." I grab a saddle and set it on my mare and cinch it up before mounting her and moving her out of the stable then I send her into a gallop as I turn towards the entrance to the town. "Duck!!" Tomlin shouts as I come barreling down the path and taking that shout as a signal I jump over Tomlin, Philip, and Duncun. They rush out of Gabriel's way as he comes following. Knowing those three once they saw Gabe following me they'd follow as well.  

Gabe and I just reached the edge of town when the other three catch up. I slow my mare to a stop as we reach the top of the hill just outside the capital. I keep my gaze fixed on the spot I know Damie would be coming to and as soon as I see him I have my mare racing down to meet the knight with my brother. The moment I am close enough I jump out of my saddle and just as Damie drops to the ground I tackle him in a hug. "I missed you sooo much big brother." I whisper to him. I feel his arms around me in a tight hug as he replies, "Missed you too little brother."  

I finally let go and stand up helping Damie up in the process. He laughs, "That wasn't the welcoming I had pictured but hey I'll take what I get." I laugh too before I punch him in the arm. "Damian you bastard why didn't you tell me what really happened to you! Unless you forgot I feel whatever pain you suffer!" He looks down at the ground as he says, "I just didn't want you to worry about me." I sigh and hug him again. "Dummy, you're my twin I'll always worry about you." I feel him loop his arms around me again as he returns my hug. "So this is the famous Damian." I turn my head and see Tomlin gazing at my brother's butt. "Stop looking at my butt I already know I'm hot." I laugh at my brother's comment. "You're still egotistic Damie."  

Damian's POV  

I snort at what my twin says. "I am not egotistic. I'm just telling the truth. I'm hot and the most powerful mage in existence. Not to mention the only summoner." My twin looks at me with wonder as he asks, "Seriously?" I laugh and nod my head yes. "Show me show me show meeee!" I chuckle and say, "Gee I would little brother but my phoenix is only for attacking." I see his face turn sad and add on, "However I can show you one of my combination spells I learned last week." Just like I know it would his face shows excitement once again. I clap my hands together and slowly pull them apart as I summon up a smaller version of my Blazing Twister. A small twister made of blue flames hang suspended between my hands.  

I glance over and see the five men with us are mesmerized by the spell and so I send it shooting up towards the sky before it grows a little more before I send up a spray of water to extinguish the fire. "Damie tell me the name!" I laugh at my brother's wondered look. "I call it Blazing Twister since it's a combination of fire and wind." The beat of hooves catches my attention and I see a sight that gives me a feeling of dread.
