Chapter 22

Every time a nurse walked in to monitor him and check his vitals I woke up, so I didn't really get a full night of sleep but I got more than I had in the past few nights. After Luke woke up I turned the tv on and almost died all over again.

"Penny, babe, breathe." Luke worriedly said.

"What the . . . what . . ."

"Nurse! I need a nurse!" Luke shouted.

"I can't . . . breathe."

"What is it with the two of you?" Nurse Gina asked, grabbing the oxygen mask.

"Her family house just blew up." he said, pointing to the tv.

"Oh dear, Penny can you . . ."

"My phone, I need my phone. I have to call him, I have to make sure that . . . oh my God." I said, feeling my heart rate go up as the tears started to fall and I ripped the mask off.

"I need to check your blood pressure, Penny and you need to put that mask back on. Call him after." she insisted.

"No, I need to call him now. Do the damn test while I call him."

I saw the message that Sam was on the way but I didn't see when it was from. I couldn't really focus on anything but what I was seeing on TV. Thankfully I had my brother on speed dial and I prayed while the phone rang.

Nurse Gina was is checking my blood pressure and I'm crying like a baby. The longer the phone rings the more pain and fear I'm feeling.

"Penny." Dom finally said.

"Oh thank God, thank you Jesus, oh my God . . . where are you?" I asked him, feeling the tears falling.

"You saw the news?"

"Yes, what the hell happened? Where are you and Mia?"

"Mia left to Kaylee's old house with Brian and Jack. Where are you?" my brother asked me.

"I'm at the hospital, there was an attack on the DSS building. Hobbs is hurt, I need you to come here. He needs to speak to you. Dom, what the hell is going on?"

"I don't know, I'll see you in a few. I'll be there soon."

"Are you okay? Is everyone okay?"

"We're all fine, everyone is okay Penny. No one was inside when it happened. I'll see you soon." he said.

"Okay, I need you to calm down now." Gina said.

"I can do that now, he's okay. They're all okay, no one was inside. They're all alive." I mumbled.

"Come here." Luke said.

"I was so scared, I can't lose them too." I whispered, sitting on the bed next to him.

"You're not gonna lose them, they're okay. You said so yourself." he said, kissing my hand.

"Luke, what the hell is going on? Your attack, my house . . . these aren't random attacks. He's going after my family."

"There's nothing you can do about it right now, I don't want you getting involved."

"I already to you that I'm not making any promises."

"Have you heard from Sam?"

"She's on her . . . she's here." I said when I saw her walking down the hall.

"Did you sleep at all?" she asked me.

"Not a lot sweetie but more than before." I replied, kissing her head.
