Chapter 11

Gisele and I had taken to cleaning our weapons when there was nothing to do but I didn't want to do that today. I went to my room and started watching movies on my phone. This was a chill night, even the guys are off doing whatever tickled their fancies and we're all just chilling out here. It feels good, after all of this mess, to just have one feel good night.

As soon as that errant thought passed through my head the movie I was watching stopped, I really need to stop jinxing myself. Kaylee's name popped up on my screen and I picked up the call, ready to shoot a sarcastic comment for the interruption. I was caught off guard when I heard her talking to someone.

"Not as much as you would like me to be, more curious than scared." she said to someone.

Why the hell would she be scared? I sat up in bed and cursed myself again for jinxing my mellow night.

"Why curious?" a male British accent asked her, the voice was familiar but I couldn't place it.

"Why are you here?" she asked the man.

"I just came from having a conversation with your Toretto, then I spot you sitting here all alone." the man replied and I recognized the voice as Owen Shaw.

I ran out of the room in a panic, whispered to everyone after putting the call on speaker mode. After losing a bit of my panic and letting reason take over again I put the call on mute.

"Someone call Dom and Luke."

"I already did, they're speeding over." Han replied as we listened to the call.

"Roman, stop him!" I shouted when Tej ran off.

"No! Let go of me! Let go, Rome!" he growled.

"Sit your candy ass down. It'll take you too long." I ordered.

Shortly after my brother and Luke pulled up. They were both anxious and Dom's worry was setting off an already pissed off Tej.

"Penny?" she said and I quickly took the call off of speaker mode.

"Are you okay?" I asked her.

"Yeah, he just left. Did you get that?" she shakily asked.

"Got all of it. You should come back, Tej isn't in a safe state of mind."

"I'll be right there, please don't let him do anything stupid." she pleaded.

"Can't make any promises, Roman had to physically restrain him to make sure he didn't run out of here. Dom is also pissed which isn't helping your situation." I warned her.

"I'm on my way, Penny." she sighed.

It was the longest 20 minutes of my life, I swear. I tried to talk the guys down so that they wouldn't gang up on her but no dice. As soon as she got out of her car the verbal abuse was on and poppin. I felt bad not helping her but nothing that I could've said would've made a difference anyway. Roman, Luke, Dom and Tej were on a warpath and more than ready to take down any bystanders.

Kaylee held her own against the four of them though. She didn't back down and she didn't let them walk all over her either. Thankfully, Luke calmed down and tried to be the voice of reason here.

"Okay, okay, what happened - happened. Now we know that he'll have a bit of a soft spot for Kaylee, he thinks she has untapped potential. Tej, focus man, talk to me. What have we got?" Luke asked.

"I was able to track Shaw after he left Kaylee but this guy's smart so I could only track him so far. He seems to know all of the city's blind spots. See, I lost him somewhere in here, which means he could be anywhere within half a mile radius. Maybe if we cross-reference phone records, leases . . ."
