[ Chapter Twenty ]
THE TIME FINALLY came to leave the city. For the most part.
After the events that transpired between the Mikaelsons and the mysterious Hollow, Raylynn and Hayley decided to take the children out of the French Quarter. There were still so many enemies who laid in wait, ready to take a hit at their family. Now that they were outed to all the supernatural residents, they needed to be on guard. That became difficult with two magical children.
So until they got a feel for the threat, Ryan and Hope would stay with their Grandma Mary out in the bayou.
Raylynn made her way down one of the staircases to the courtyard. Her dark green, floral skirt flared around her thighs, while her shoulders were exposed to the sunlight that streamed through the windows. She scanned the open room until she found Klaus. He stood close to a wall and stared toward his reflection in a mirror. Raylynn watched him with narrowed eyes as he stayed there for a long time.
When she hit the bottom level, Raylynn's booted heels clicked against the concrete and alerted Klaus to her presence. He turned away from the mirror to her when she walked up to him. "Are you okay?" she questioned as she stepped up to his side.
Klaus shook his head and smiled. "Of course I am, love."
Raylynn could see right through him. "Really?" She pressed with her arms crossed. "You're going to try lying to me now? I think we both know you were never any good at it before."
Klaus's lips parted at her words. He looked as though he was about to say something, but he changed his mind as the last second. "Have I mentioned how much I've missed you?" He reached out and set his hands on the Montgomery woman's waist, pulling her into his chest.
Raylynn gasped a bit at the action, placing her hands on his shoulders. "Are you trying to change the subject?"
"I would never," Klaus exclaimed as he stared into her eyes. There was a slight twitch of his lips.
Raylynn scoffed. "Yeah, okay. And I didn't use to be a vampire hunter."
Before she could say more, Klaus leaned down and captured Raylynn's lips with his own. Her train of thought derailed in an instant. She returned to pressure of the kiss, slipping her hands around his neck. Klaus's grip on her waist tightened as they grew closer together.
"Dad? Aunt Ray?"
Raylynn snapped away from Klaus and turned to where Hope entered the courtyard. Her hair was pulled into braids on either side of her head and wore a short dress over her tights.
