[ Chapter Twelve ]

AT THE revelation, Raylynn, Klaus, and Hayley set out to find out more information that pertained to Lucien Castle and Kingmaker Land Development. They did not discover much, only that every single building the man owned were identical in every aspect. If they were to learn anything, they needed to find the location where Lucien maintained a headquarters.

Raylynn believed Lucien to be the type to actually have a headquarters. He gave off the typical villain vibe.

In the off change that they were about to walk into something dangerous, Hayley called Mary, Jackson's grandmother, to pick up Hope so she would be far from anything that could harm her. Klaus tried his best to get Raylynn to go with them, but she refused to leave them.

Eight months pregnant or not, Raylynn could hold her own in a fight and still keep her unborn child safe.

Raylynn leaned against the side of Klaus's Range Rover in front of a diner called the Mad Crow. Hayley passed off Hope to Mary a few yards away, while Klaus had his phone held to his ear at the hood of his vehicle. Raylynn faintly heard Elijah when he answered, but he walked off before she could hear more. She did not know what the conversation contained, but she could tell it was important by Klaus's tense stance.

"If you find him, don't hesitate," Klaus exclaimed into the phone, before he hung out and shoved it into his coat pocket.

Raylynn turned to him and was about to ask about the call, until Hayley walked back over to them.

"Hope's down for the count," the hybrid said when she approached. "She fell asleep as soon as Mary started the car. I doubt she'll miss either of us over the next few days." She pulled a piece of paper out of her pocket with multiple addresses written across it and set it on the hood of the car. "So -which of these Kingmaker offices should we hit up first? There's ten of them."

Raylynn stared at Klaus as his expression hardened. The call must have been bad. "What is it?" she asked him.

Klaus glanced to her and then to her best friend. "Lucien has revealed his true nature. He's taken Freya." Raylynn's eyes widened. "And now, it seems her rescue depends on Elijah working with my ever reliable brother Finn."

"Oh -and you want to go back to New Orleans to head up the hunt?" Hayley questioned, the disappointment clearly in her tone. She nodded when she noticed his torn gaze. "Fine. You should go. Ray and I will stick with Kingmaker, though. Lucien's working very hard to cover up these wolf kidnappings, and I want to know why." She reached out to take the keys from where they were placed on the hood and turned to get behind the wheel.
