Footprints in the Snow (5)
Footprints in the Snow
A single set
A straight line
Across an open field
I slowly followed the
Footprints
step by step
Carefully
being sure not to
disturb
or
destroy them
I stopped at the end of the
open field
I lit a cigarette
blowing smoke rings into the still air
The
Footprints
stopped
As far as My eyes could see
the Snow was undisturbed
except for that single set of
Footprints
that now ended
I drew heavily on my cigarette
blowing smoke rings into the air.
I began to wonder
How could the Footprints end here?
I looked to the tree line
What was beyond?
I turned
prepared
to go back
