Footprints in the Snow (6)
Footprints in the Snow
A single set
A straight line
Through the wooded area
I slowly followed the
Footprints
step by step
Carefully
being sure not to
disturb
or
destroy them
I stopped at the end of the
wooded area
I lit a cigarette
exhaling through my nose
The
Footprints
stopped
As far as My eyes could see
the Snow was undisturbed
except for that single set of
Footprints
that now ended
I drew heavily on my cigarette
exhaling through my nose
I began to wonder
How could the Footprints end here?
I looked beyond the tree line
I saw
smoke rings
rising above the embankment
I walked beyond the
Footprints
and stood looking down to an
open field
He was following
Footprints
in the Snow
a single set
a straight line
across the open field
to the road beyond
