Chapter 11: Sports Festival! One vs One (PART 2)

I get up from my hospital bed and I go sit in one of the seats to watch the rest of the matches. The rest of the matches go pretty swiftly other than Kirishima and Tetsutetsu's.

Midoriya vs. Shinsou: Midoriya's win

Todoroki vs. Sero: Todoroki's win

(L/n) vs. Kaminari: (L/n)'s win

Iida vs. Hatsume: Iida's win

Aoyama vs. Ashido: Ashido's win

Tokoyami vs. Yaoyorozu: Tokoyami's win

Kirishima vs. Tetsutetsu: Kirishima's win

Bakugou vs. Uraraka: Bakugou's win

All the first matches were over and the second tournament was trying to start.

The first match was Todoroki vs. Midoriya. At this point, I didn't know if I wanted to see it or not, but I couldn't get myself to move, to leave my seat so I stayed.

The match is incredible. Midoriya's fingers were breaking one by one while Todoroki's ice didn't stop. Todoroki's beautiful ice. 'But at this rate, Midoriya's not going to be able to win, he's going to run out of fingers and energy. His physical ability is already lacking compared to Todoroki, he has to do something!' I think.

"Todoroki, everyone here is fighting as hard as they can, don't think you can reach the top with only half of your power!" Midoriya shouts "You haven't put one scar on me yet!"

I look at him in awe. He's obviously in the lower hand, Todoroki's obviously stronger and yet he was trying to pull out Todoroki's full strength. All I was doing was hoping for him to not use his left side. Hoping that I wouldn't have to see how much of a power difference I had from Todoroki.

"GO! MIDORIYA!" I yell.

As soon as the words leave my mouth, I see the most beautiful thing I have yet, something more beautiful than Todoroki's ice. Todoroki's bright red flame just burns in front of me, as if it's resembling what Todoroki's emotions looked like.

Todoroki's flame and ice overpowered Midoriya and led to an easy win for Todoroki.

"FIRST MATCH OF SECOND ROUND, TODOROKI'S WIN!" Midnight announces."(L/n) and Iida please get ready, your match will start just as soon as the field is cleared!"

I walk down to the field and stand right at the edge. All I need to do Is freeze the pipes on his legs. The only problem is that he's too fast to catch. I'm no longer depressed. I want to fight Todoroki. I want to fight Todoroki. I want to fight Todoroki. I'm one step away. All I have to do is win this match. I'M GOING TO WIN!

"3, 2, 1, GO!" Midnight yells.

I run towards Iida but he tries to push me out of bounds. I put a block of ice behind me to stop me from being pushed. 'Tch. This isn't going to be an easy win...' I think.

He starts to run towards me again and just when he's close enough, but still too far to reach me, I freeze the ground and lock him in place. In the few seconds I have before he is able to break the ice, I freeze the pipes on his legs. I freeze his whole body in ice, and Midnight blows the whistle.

"Due to Iida being put out of commission, the winner of this match is (L/n)!" Midnight announces.

"YESSSS!" I yell and walk off the field and back to the balcony to watch the other matches.

'I get to fight Todoroki' I think in happiness.

The matches are:

Todoroki vs. Midoriya: Todoroki wins

Iida vs. (L/n): (L/n) wins

Ashido vs. Tokoyami: Tokoyami's win

Bakugou vs. Kirishima: Bakugou's win

"THE SECOND ROUND IS OVER! THE FIRST MATCH OF THE THIRD ROUND IS GOING TO START NOW! (L/N) AND TODOROKI PLEASE REPORT TO THE FIELD" Midnight yells.

I walk down to the field. I'm nervous and I honestly don't know how to face Todoroki but I want to see the flames on his left side. I want to see how long my ice is going to last in comparison to Todoroki's flame. But no matter how excited I was for this match, it didn't change that it was still awkward between me and Todoroki.

I had almost forgotten that it was awkward between us. 'Now that I think of it, is he mad at me? Is he still thinking of his mom? Should I say something?' I get myself to stop thinking. I'm finally able to fight Todoroki, to see his left side.

"3, 2. 1 GO!!!" Midnight yells again.

I stand still simply shoot ice towards him and he does the same. This continues for quite a few times until I decide to use shoot out ice from both legs at the same time. 'Yes! I should be able to get him from the other side this time' I think. 'He might use his left side to melt my ice!' I watch Todoroki's left side—waiting for it to burst into flames, but it doesn't. The amount of ice he's been shooting just doubles to cover for both of my ice blocks. I stop attacking for a bit and simply pause. I catch my breath and stand still looking at Todoroki.

I soon get back into focus and shoot out as much ice as I can at once. I just wanted to fight Todoroki's flames, even though I know I'm going to lose, I saw Deku fight full on with Todoroki's full power. I'm done being depressed and sad, I'm going to work hard too. I only re-realize how much I had been underestimating Todoroki. I almost forgot that his right side alone was already 2x stronger than me.

He shoots ice at me and I make sure to have an ice barrier behind me, just so I don't go out of bounds, but I don't attack. I just stand there, trying to recover some energy. I get hit in the stomach by Todoroki's ice a few times before he stops attacking.

I stand with my head down and try to shoot some ice at him again, but nothing works as well as I plan for it to, so my attack gets blocked again. I keep my head hanging while I try to catch my breath again. Then I hear a voice talk to me.

"(L/n), what's wrong?" Todoroki asks. The way he says it isn't making fun of me, it's warm like he really means it.

"I know I'm weak. I know you're much, much stronger than me, but I watched your match with Deku and I really wanted to fight you at your best. I realized that your right side alone is 2x stronger than my best when I saw your ice block in your first match and all I did was wish that you won't use your left side. I watched your match with Deku and saw your left side. I know that you can win without using your left side and I know you don't want to but can you please fight me at your best?"

"(L/n), you're not weak. You're not the least bit weak. I've never thought you were weak." He says.

"You don't have to li--" I start but I'm cut off by Todoroki's flame blazing in my face.

I stare at it in awe and start to pile up as much energy in me as possible. I simply release energy in front of me-- blocks and blocks of ice one after the other, trying to beat the fire in front of me. This went on only until I ran out of energy and Todoroki melted all the ice around me. I squeezed every last bit of energy out of me until I started to feel feverish and my eyesight became blurry. I soon lost because I became out of commission from collapsing.

"This match is Todoroki's win for (L/n) is out of commission!" Midnight yells.

Todoroki's POV

I look at (L/n) on the ground, unconscious and I finally relax.

I walk over to her and whisper, "Thank you. Thank you so much."

I carry her off the field and walk into the temporary nursery room. I carefully put her on one of the beds and sit in a seat next to it.
