Chapter 9: Sports Festival! Cavalry Battle

(Y/n) POV

'Midoriya and Uraraka are talking about pairing up, they're probably gonna be a team. Todoroki... is going with Kaminari, Iida and Momo, I can't join that for many different reasons. Bakugou... that's right! Bakugou! Let's go with Bakugou!' I think.

There are a lot of people surrounding Bakugou, asking to team with him.

"Bakugou! Team with me~~~"

"Oi Bakugou! Have you decided on a team yet?"

"HEY BAKUGOU!!!!!"

"Wait," Bakugou says to everyone there. "Tell me all of your names and quirks first!"

"Are you serious?" Kirishima asks. "If we're from Class B, I still get it, but we've been in the same class for long enough..."

I try to get through the crowd of people.

"Bakugou!" I say, "Can you team with me?"

"(L/n)... I'M GONNA WIN THIS TIME" he screams.

"So you're gonna team with me?" I ask, just to confirm.

"OF COURSE NOT ARE YOU STUPID. I NEED TO BEAT YOU. I CAN'T BEAT YOU IF YOU'RE IN THE SAME TEAM AS ME."

"Oh okay... I should have seen this coming..." I mutter as I walk away.

"What! This is not fair! How come you remember (L/n)-san's name and quirk?"

"CUZ THE QUIRK'S ACTUALLY USEFUL"

"Ah, okay okay, I feel like you're saying that our quirks suck but chill dude."

I walk around unsure of who to team up with now that I can't team with Bakugou or Todoroki, not even Momo. 'Is Jirou still available?' I wonder, 'No, she's not...'  I walk around until I spot Deku watering his eyes out now that Uraraka asked him to team together. I run over to them and ask if I can join as well.

"Uraraka-san, Midoriya-san, can I join your team or do you already have people in mind that you want to work with?" I ask carefully. Since we're talking about Midoriya, he probably thought this out really carefully.

"No, I'm so glad we get such a strong quirk to side with us!" Midoriya says, looking happy.

'Good. At least I'm welcome here...' I think.

"But if we have you, (L/n)-chan, we might not even lose to Todoroki's team over there!" Uraraka says in joy.

"That's true!" Midoriya says. "But to be honest, I had one person in mind that I wanted to group with. It's Tokoyami. If we can get his Dark Shadow to defend us, I think we would have close to no flaws."

"Wow..." I say.

"Hm? Why?" Midoriya asks, "Am I saying something weird?"

"No, no. It's just that it makes me feel like I'm not doing enough. You're always thinking, always making plans on how to beat people, the next chance you get, while I do things on the spot. I never have anything prepared and I'm always stuck around one thing that's in my head. Like I got stuck in my own quirk just now during the race and stayed in it for a good minute or two because I wasn't focused." I say, "Everyone's working so hard, everyone has so much on their mind, and I'm the most out of it when I was the one who distracted someone."

I glance over at Todoroki. His group is so strong I don't feel like I can win. On that note, why did I lose the race if my quirk is ideally 2x stronger than his?

Uraraka POV

'She keeps complimenting Deku-kun when she doesn't even know him that well...' I think, just a bit jealous. 'Deku's always working that hard!'
