Chapter 15 - New alliances
"But I guess I didn't try hard enough!" Raj spoke, reminiscing the past.
"Sanskar is right Mr. Maheshwari. You did your best." Ragini tried to pacify him. Suddenly a thought struck her "But why didn't you destroy the chip? It was the cause of every trouble!"
"Because Vishal's last wish was for it to be given to his sons. And Raj wants to fulfill that wish." said Sujata.
"But this chip is so much trouble!" Laksh exclaimed. "It cost the life of Sir's best friend!"
"It's true what you say. But Vishal saved my life and took a bullet for me. And it is he who asked me to fulfill his last wish. I can't deny his last wish." Raj surmised.
Laksh looked down and nodded in understanding.
"But this still doesn't explain why Sanskar is doing all this drama of hating his family." Ragini pointed out.
Raj sighed. "Because this chip, as you said, is nothing but a call of disaster. We didn't even want Sanskar to find out about it, but he accidentally heard us. I still remember how angry he was when he found out I was keeping such a dangerous thing with us."
"And for good reason too father!" Sanskar exclaimed. "What if something happened to Ansh or Saara because of it? What then, huh!?" Sanskar accused, looking at his father. "I was against the idea of keeping this chip with us. In fact I would have destroyed it! However, he then told me the entire story and his promise to his friend, who sacrificed his life for him."
"That was the only reason that kept him from destroying it. But that didn't mean he would put Ansh and Saara's life in danger." Raj explained. There was a hint of pride in his tone as he spoke about Sanskar. "That's why he decided to play this drama."
Sanskar turned to Ragini and Laksh "If Ansh and Saara knew about the chip, then they would no doubt want to help protect it. Which meant that they would be putting themselves in danger."
Ragini could see the fear and worry in his eyes for his siblings. 'He cares so much for others. I was wrong in calling him selfish, when he is far from it!'
"If we put extreme security in our house for the chip, Ansh and Saara would be suspicious and Ansh would use his computer skills to eventually find out the truth. Even if I decided to move out to a new apartment with the chip, they both would keep visiting me, and they would eventually find out. So we needed a way through which we could make Saara and Ansh stay away from the chip, as well as keep tight security over the chip. That's why I did this drama."
"And you decided to play martyr?" Laksh chided. "You clearly care for your siblings. And yet, you made them hate you to protect them? You want them to be happy and safe. But what about you, huh?!" he shouted. He couldn't believe his best friend was putting himself in such dangers, that too without telling him.
Sanskar gave him a look of steel. "I would rather rip my own heart out than see anything happen to them! It pains me so much to be away from them, to be rude to them. But I would rather have them hate me and be alive, then be with them and put them in danger. And I would do it again if it calls for it!"
"You're an idiot! At least you could of told me!" Laksh shouted back.
"And put you, who is like my brother, in danger?! No damn way!"
