Sakura Pov
I narrowed my eyes at the old man. "And what makes you say that?" I knew the familiarity in the way I addressed him was highly disrespectful, but that was for a reason.

He chuckled. "I've been watching you recently, Sakura. The way you seemed to change overnight, like some sort of switch was flipped. You went from boy crazy to flippant and blunt, focusing on your studies and training rather than Sasuke. You killed another ninja according to the mission report, and was captured and tortured by a well-known monopoly man. Does that sound like a typical genin, Sakura?" He seemed to be accusing me of something, yet there was nothing to accuse me of.

I was the model citizen, the perfect ninja. But I wasn't supposed to be. I was too perfect, too robotic in my ninja duties. How is that possible? I looked him straight in the eyes. "There is no such thing as a typical genin, old man. Only child soldiers sent to their deaths by snobby bags of bones like you. I only did as expected of me. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must rest. I have been heavily injured and need to heal." I laid back into my bed and closed my eyes, signaling the end of the conversation.

This may bite me in the ass later on, but I didn't care. He pissed me off.

The old man sighed but rose from his seat, and not another word was spoken as he took his leave. Afterwards, I drifted back into oblivion. Well, it would have been if Inner hadn't pulled me into her domain.

"Hello darling." She smiled at me.

I grinned back. "Long time no see, huh?"

She nodded her head. Her face changed to a serious one. It was time for business. "Why do you hate the Hokage?" The words flew from my mouth quicker than Road Runner fleeing from another failed attempt at his capture.

She put one leg over the other, a wine glass in one hand and, wait, is that a joint? Whatever, that's not the problem here. She took a sip and waited for a moment, as if she were choosing the right words to say. "I've been watching your memories." She looked at me.

I nodded as if to say 'go on'. She took another sip. "I watched every bit with anything relating to this world. And I noticed something. The third Hokage, he's a dick. He sent a boy to murder his own family, he basically mass produced thousands of child soldiers and sent them to their deaths, left a little boy clueless and alone because he didn't want him to know of his fathers true identity. He could've taken better care of him instead of allow the civilians to treat him so badly." She took a long hit from her joint, followed by another sip of her wine.

I sat there and took in her words, her observations. She was right; he had done all of that, and possibly more. He was terrible, masked with the face and kindness of an old man. It simply made my blood boil. "So, what can I do?" Inner smiled deviously.

"Well, first.."

When I woke up it was nearly 5 in the afternoon. I yawned and stretched, ignoring the slight sting of some of my more severe injuries. A nurse walked in after noticing I was awake. She didn't speak, only checking my bandages and vitals, giving me a shot of pain medicine as well. After putting a tray of food in front of me, she left. I was left to eat some amazing looking mackerel, konbu salad, natto, fruit, rice, sweet potatoes and peas, as well as some milk and green tea. My mouth was a literal waterfall. Why the hell is this hospital food so good?!

I ate every bit of it, sighing happily afterwards.
I looked over at the red button beside of me and pushed it. Immediately a nurse came rushing in. "Ma'am, when can I go home?" I asked politely.

She smiled and took my empty food tray. "Most likely tomorrow, our medics healed most of your injuries, and I noticed some were already healed. Do you have a medic on your team?" Her eyes glittered with curiosity.

I smiled. "Yes ma'am, I'm learning basic medical ninjutsu so I can do more things like that for my teammates and I in the future." My answer was simple, a small amount of information but enough to keep her happy.

She smiled sweetly and left the room. Next thing I know is the feeling of someone else on top of me and bright yellow in my vision. "Naruto! Oh, I'm so glad you're here! This place is dreadfully boring." I wrapped my arms around him and squeezed as hard as I could.

He let out an 'oof' before hugging me back, just not as tight. How sweet. I gave him a kiss on his forehead, surprising the boy. His face turned beet red and I giggled, noticing from the corner of my eyes Kakashi staring at us, a seemingly blissful look on his face. Beside him stood Sasuke, looking like he didn't want to be there, but I knew he cared.

This is what I live for, what I'm training so hard for. I will protect them, no matter the cost.

Because I love them.
