(For artists and writers)

Comments on creators posts such as:
"All your characters are the same."
"That's so unrealistic."
"Mary Sue/Gary Stu much?"
"Isn't that a bit generic."
Really bug me.

Honestly I'm more of an artist than a writer and I like making character sheets, but I've heard stories of young creators being discouraged and insecure about their art due to these comments. Art should be a form of expression and staying in your comfort zone is NOT a bad thing. Different people learn and advance slower or quicker than others and oftentimes as you create more and more you learn and gain more skill. When I first began making ocs I had a very generic overpowered half demon boy with white hair and blue eyes called Rin (based off of Rin Okumura from Blue Exorcist). But as time passed and I read over his character sheet, I began to revise and change large aspects of his character and appearance to better make him less based off an existing character and more my own. As you create more and more you attempt to branch out and experiment and that is never a bad thing.

YOU create what YOU want to!

You're a creator and you have the ability to make whatever the hell you want. There wiill be those who like and dislike what you create but those are other peoples comments and you don't have to take them to heart. On another hand Don't reject CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. For example, if you're drawing a person of a different race or gender or religion than you and portray them in a way that unintentionally offends a person, it would be a good idea to heed their advice. There's a difference between giving advice/suggestions/and information and being rude.

So, what I'm trying to say is make whatever the hell you want (as long as it's not offensive) but don't be afraid to expand your skill or listen to input from others.
