Everyone has a certain food, flavor, or scent from their childhood that brings back memories from when they were younger.
For example, my nostalgia smell is honeysuckle flowers and pine! When I was a kid me and my mom would go out behind our pine tree cloaked house to pick the flowers and squeeze the nectar out.
Similar to how my example is a fond memory, this can be a way to detail your OC. You can simply make it a like or dislike, or choose to make it a vital part of their backstory for them to reminisce on.
On a different note, I used to have a hyper detailed (now revamped) character from Scandinavia and his favorite food was a rosette cookie. I used it to help show his connection/origin.
