I could say there's no such thing as good and bad traits but that'd be a bold statement. However, personality traits can be more than they say. A good practice is trying to find the pros or cons of having that trait. For example:
Determined con - The character doesn't know when to stop and overworks themself.
Mischeivious pro - The character is great at coming up with plots and is entertaining.
Kind con - The character isn't taken seriously and is viewed as a pushover.
Creative con - The character daydreams often and has trouble focusing on straightforward things.
Quick-witted/Smartass pro - The character is great in arguments.
