ben hargreeves is ALIVE, thank you for coming to my ted talk

Rainy days were enjoyable. It gave you time to rethink your life choices and it made you calm — you could sit back and relax while enjoying a hot cup of coffee.

Unless you were outside in the rain.

It was late in the evening already when you got from work. The office had more work for you and as a result, you got out late. Way too late. The streets were deserted and you were kind of scared to get jumped by some creep.

You took the big roads of the city, not risking your life to take shortcuts. The rain was falling down harshly and your clothes were soaking wet — you'd make a mess when you'd arrive in your apartment. Taking a left turn, you heard two voices and splashes on the sidewalk. Two men — they kind of acted like boys — were running while taking shelter under a jacket. They noticed you and without hesitation gave you shelter under their jacket as well.

"I know it doesn't help anymore," the man with the black eyeliner said to you. The one next to him, the Asian one, smiled at you nervously as they both held the jacket above you.

"I appreciate the gesture," you chuckled. "Are you two alright?"

"Well, we're soaking wet, so I don't really suppose it's so amazing..." The three of you decided to walk on. You guided them to your apartment, seeing as these two gentlemen didn't exactly know where they were headed.

"I'm Klaus, by the way, this is Ben."

"_____. Nice to meet you, Klaus, Ben." You gave them a smile, but you didn't really see whether they returned it or not. The rain was way too heavy to even make out further of their facial features, so you hurried up.

After a while of walking — it was a pretty long walk because Klaus kept talking about pudding and boys — you finally came back at your apartment. You let go of the jacket, sitting in front of the door for a few seconds, catching your breath. The little roof above the door was barely enough for the three of you to stand under, and even that needed you to press against each other. "Do you two even have anywhere to go?"

"Not really." It was the first time Ben ever spoke that evening and his voice made you soft from the inside. You sighed, rubbing your hands together to get some warmth.

"Fine. You can crash at my place for the night."

Klaus put his hands together and fell to his knees. "Oh, thank you, _____, thank you," he whispered, and you shook you head holding back a smile while you opened the door. You walked up to your apartment and entered it — your two guests seemed to like it a lot.

"This is so cosy," Klaus said. Before he could step inside, Ben held him by the arm and furrowed his eyebrows, shaking his head. You noticed.

"Oh, just— come inside, it's no problem. I'll dry the floor clean. I'll get you two some towels." You disappeared to your bathroom while Klaus continued to admire your interior. He was about to sit down on his sofa, but again, Ben stopped him.

"You're going to sit your wet butt on a dry sofa after someone nice took your homeless ass in?" he whispered, and Klaus only rolled his eyes in response. But he knew Ben was right — he had to be polite.
