"The Brain May Forget,
But The Heart Will Remember"

YUNAThey both smiled at me warmly, the God being more cautious of me than his regalia. Actually now thinking about it I hadn't ever really heard a God named Yato, I guess he wasn't too popular. Explains their attire but then again I cant exactly say much since I'm at an abandoned shrine wearing an old hoodie and jeans.
"So what brings you to 'this' shrine?" Yato asks slightly suspiciously. I shrug trying to act casual and not tense up too much. "How old even are you? Shouldn't your parents be worried about you or something?" His uncertainties growing by the second. I couldn't help but stiffen at the mention of my so called parents.
"They.. um.." I stammered unsure of what to really say. He was a God after all so I guess he couldn't exactly judge me.
Don't tell!
I decided for once listening to that voice inside me was for the best. I cant trust them just yet... or ever. Anyone can find a flaw in someone and turn their backs real quick.
"Actually, my father knows I'm here. I was on my way to the shops when it started raining, so I ran here." I lie through my teeth and both Yato and Yukine seem to sense something isn't quite right in my answer. Thankfully they don't question me further. "Oh and I'm 16... about to turn 17 soon... I think?" I whisper the last part thinking more to myself then aloud.
I cant really remember the last time I celebrated my birthday however I think it was around this time of year I was suppose to turn 17. Maybe in a month or so...
"You don't know when your own birthday is?" Yukine suddenly asked. My head shot up and I saw he was closer to me than I thought. Shit did I really say that aloud.
"Of course I do. That's ridiculous." I deadpanned trying to convince not only them but myself. Yato seemed to look at me knowingly like to him I was an open book, easy to read an figure out. So I put some walls back up and decided it was better to head out. My bruises had healed and I needed to get back home to get some essentials.
"It was nice talking to you guys and all but I have to go." I turned around and started walking away but quickly stopped. "Oh and tell Kofuku I'm sorry for what happened yesterday." I finished walking away again in hopes of getting home early enough he wouldn't be there.

YATOWhat a strange girl.
Kofuku had told me someone had been coming and leaving change nearly everyday for her for a while now. She said she never really saw who it was but could tell it was a female who knew about Kofuku using Ebisu's name and apparently even knew about me and Yukine. Kofuku said that she received a note along with the change one time telling her to give some to 'The other God thats always around'.
I never payed much mind to it until yesterday. Kofuku looked so sure that Yuna was her, and if I'm honest me and Yukine thought she might be too. She knew too much not to be.
I don't even understand why she would be embarrassed about it or keep it a secret... it isn't exactly a bad thing if anything it's a good deed.
Having been in such deep thoughts I didn't notice Yukine staring intensely at where Yuna had walked off to.
"Let's follow her." Yukine finally said breaking the silence that had fallen between us. I could tell he could feel something was wrong with her. Yuna seemed almost nervous to go.
"You feel it too huh?" I asked rhetorically. It felt as if something bad was going to happen, so we decided to check it out.
"Come on let's catch up with her then." I said no longer minding the rain and jumping up onto the roof of the shrine.
15 minutes later and then we seemed to have finally reached her destination. Me and Yukine were getting worried she was going no where when she finally stopped in front of a house. Once she spotted the car out front she seemed to visibly tense and sighed.
It was hard to see from 6 houses besides her but I we could see her take a deep breathe before taking out a pair of keys and opening the door.
Me and Yukine looked at each other questioningly and decided to get closer to make sure she was okay.
About two houses away we froze...
"Stupid bitch!!! Where the fuck have you been!!!" Someone shouted. The voice was deep indicating it was a man.
"I haven't seen you in TWO FUCKING WEEKS!!!!" He continued to scream at who I guess is Yuna.
Yukine seemed tense. With his past not being exactly good I knew he wanted to help.... however there was nothing we could do. From my point of view what I'm guessing is her father had a point. If I hadn't seen Yukine for two weeks I guess I'd be pretty mad too.
*CRASH*
*THUD*
My head snapped up at those sounds. Now those were alarming...
"Yato... I have a really bad feeling about this....." he stopped for a second and I searched his face to see it contorted with worry. "I don't like those sounds."
I understand him I do. Sadly, as much as I wanted... it was against the law for us Gods to interfere with a mortals life. There had been a few cases where some Gods had been outcasted and executed for this. Even with Hiyori's case the Gods hadn't been pleased.
*THUD*
The alarming sounds continued for a few more minutes until suddenly everything went quiet...
"I swear to the gods. I'm going to FUCKING KILL YOU WHORE!!!" He bellowed. That was the last straw me and Yukine knew this had gone too far and as we started making running towards the house completely ignoring the rules that now had slipped my mind.
I just knew I had to protect that smile that Yuna had, had on every time I'd seen her... even if they always seemed a little forced.
Before we could make it to the house we see Yuna run out the door almost causally slamming it behind her, with her head down and hood up. I heard her mutter something along the lines of "dick head" as she walked to no where in specific.
...
'What the actual fuck just happened' me and Yukine both thought at the same time...
