it was thursday afternoon and you were sat in your a-level biology class glancing over at a worried peter beale copying notes and equations down from a whiteboard. every once in a while he would stare outside and watch his ex girlfriend, lauren outside in her photography class taking pictures on a high quality camera. you and lauren were friends and so were you and peter, it was quite awkward sometimes knowing that they are exes and all of that. peter couldn't stop dwelling on lauren all the time but she had found someone new already and started dating him. after class peter joined you outside on his phone after fifteen minutes since school ended.

"sorry, i had to sort something out" he apologised passing you a headphone

"yeah it's cool" you put the headphone in your ear and walked home

you and peter lived across town from each other, it took you thirty minutes to walk home and it only took him fifteen minutes. he looked worried all the way home and only said a couple words before going inside as you walked home. you took out your key and went inside, running up the stairs and emptying your bag, you started on your biology notes for the test on tuesday. your mum came home and then later your dad arrived, you went downstairs and told them about your day while making a bowl of noodles while studying. a couple hours after your mum shouted you downstairs for dinner, when you were eating a bang was thrown onto the door with sniffling. you got up and walked quickly to the door and opened it. on your doorstep, peter beale stood in his classic light grey hoodie but this time zipped up, the hood over his blonde locks and his black jeans. he had seemed off all day but his eyes were welled up with tears, his nose a reddish pink from the cold and tears on each cheek. you pulled him inside and he just cried onto your shoulder.

"peter, what happened?" you asked grabbing his hands

"at home, lucy and ian, i heard them talking about me, they, they" he sobbed and burst into tears again even thinking about it

your mother and father were now stood with you and peter. you and your father was trying to calm peter down so he could talk and your mother was making him a warm cup of tea.

"peter, please tell me what happened" you sat on the floor in front of him

"when i heard them talking, i listened and ian was talking about me...to lucy" he sniffed

"what did they say pete?" you sighed knowing it was something bad

"ian said 'lucy i love you ok?, i mean peter is a good lad, he'll do what he's told, work in the market and on the stall and some day the cafe, but you and me, were a team we can take this family on what i'm trying to say is your the one. you always have been the one' " peter welled up again

"oh peter" you closed your eyes giving him a massive hug

peter clutched his cup of tea as he went up to your room while you cleaned up dinner. when you joined him, he had cleared you bed and put everything on the floor and sat against the wall, his eyes still red from crying, you joined his and rubbed his shoulder

"i can't go home y/n, knowing that my own father prefers my twin sister to me, it breaks me, i know i'm not good enough and that just proves it, i'm nothing special to them either" he sighed wiping his eyes
