A loud crashing sound jolt Marianne awake. She got out off bed and rushed to the door.

"What was that?" Philippe was the first to speak after he exited the room beside Marianne's.

Marianne didn't know but it spelled danger.

"Go get your gun Philippe and make sure to use the silver bullets." Marianne stated as she went to get hers.

After grabbing her weapon and extra ammunition, she took a peek outside her window and saw pack members shifting into wolves. Are they under attack? Could it be the Countess?

"Marianne." Nefera uttered after appearing inside Marianne's room.

"What's going on?" Marianne asked.

"Elizabeth and her cult is here. The Alpha wanted me to check on you."

The Blood Countess, the Lubovs should be their main concern not her. Marianne told Nefera to help the vampires. The witch nodded her head before she vanished.

"Marianne are you seeing this? There are wolves outside." Philippe was armed when he entered Marianne's room.

"Don't worry about those. Help me look around the house, someone might've entered." Marianne attached a silencer to her gun.

Philippe grabbed Marianne's arm as he said 'No' multiple times. "You're not going out there, Mari. You're a stubborn ass vixen but I'm not going to let you go out there."

"Philippe--"

"This is not a topic for debate. It's dangerous out there and I'm not going to let anything happen to you." The former marine stated and it was a promise.

"I can handle--"

"Have you killed a man before? There maybe wolves but there are people in this house as well. You may injure someone or worse." Philippe cut her off.

Marianne froze from her spot, the statement ringing from her ears. She looked at her gun as it slowly dawned on her.

Philippe carefully removed the gun from her hand. "Stay here, okay? I'll come back for you." He planted a kiss on her forehead before leaving the room.

Growling, yelping, and howls were heard around the perimeter. Then, the blood curdling scream of Cara made Marianne move from her still stance. Her paces were fast as she pushed the door open to the redhead's bedroom.

A big hole from the ceiling and broken windows were what first caught Marianne's attention. Alex and Axel were fighting five vampires. Marianne turned to the bed where Denim held Cara against her chest, blocking her view.

Marianne grabbed the rocking chair near the door and with all her strength bashed it against the vampire who lounged at her. The attack didn't demobilize the vampire. It attacked Marianne, pinning her to the wall inches above the floor. Marianne choked and her body flail about, trying to escape his grip but she had no chance. Her grip tightened on the broken piece of furniture in her hand and she stabbed him. The vampire's hold on Marianne's neck soon faltered and he dropped to the ground. Marianne fell on her knees and held her aching neck. She breathed hard as she watched the body turn to ash.

"Marianne? Are you okay?" Marianne turned to Alex who slid beside her.

Their other perpetrators remained a mound of ash after being defeated by the twins. Marianne nodded her head and shifted her gaze to Denim and Cara. Axel was carrying them in his arms. Cara wasn't severely affected by the infiltration and had worry on her face rather than fear. Attacks are a common occurrence to the lives of werewolves and having a father feared by many, Cara was accustomed to it. It was sad, a child her age should never be familiar with violence.
