"Nefera!" Marianne ran towards the witch and embraced her.

Nefera returned the gestured and closed her eyes as she succumbed into the moment. Sharing a Blood Contract with Marianne, she developed this wistful longing that was only fulfilled by Marianne's presence. The want to protect her is strong and she knew it was similar to what the werewolves naturally felt towards their Alpha and Luna. Her dutifulness to Remus is a result of obligation but her affinity to Marianne is a rare connection she only shared akin to her mother.

"I miss you." Marianne tightened her hug.

"I miss you too." The witch claimed which she did. She's been gone for three months but the events that happened with the pack never missed her ears.

Unfortunately, in her return, she is the bearer of bad news.

"Where's the Alpha?" She asked.

"In his study room, with Aryan."

Aryan? The man never leaves the city. What is he doing in the pack house? Nefera shrugged the thought away and headed to room with Marianne following her.

Opening the double doors, the first thing she noticed was Aryan. He was dressed in a full Armani suit. Nefera rolled her eyes. You never see the man in anything but a suit.

"Ash." Aryan greeted her. The nickname he gave the witch, a reminder of the past.

Nefera greeted him with a brief nod before facing Remus.

"My mother made a mistake." Nefera began.

Remus and Aryan shot her a confused look. The Brethren witch made a mistake. Have the hogs began to fly? Chione made an error, it was absurd. Her intelligence is one of the reasons why the Brethren could not afford to lose the witch. She has knowledge far beyond their literature.

"The Grand Coven and every spellcaster is in search for the moon goddess' vessel. During the Blood Contract, Marianne's eyes mirrored the moon and my mother is aware of that information. I've talked to her and she promised to withhold this information for so long as Marianne doesn't become a threat." Nefera explained.

"Wait, you think I'm the vessel of the moon goddess?" Marianne's brows furrowed in confusion.

"It's the only possible explanation. Not just anyone can become invulnerable to my mother's power." The pack witch determined.

Once they entered the room, everyone took their respective seats. All members of the Brethren eyed the head of the Order.

Claudia, the Brazilian banshee, cursed the other members of the Order. She knew why no one wanted to assume the head of the Order. No one wanted to be the piñata the Brethren would be hitting.

"The least they could do is fix this." Claudia grumbled as she sorted the papers on the lectern.

"Will you be any slower?" First hit.

Claudia glanced at the Brethren Berserker who was glaring at her. She squeaked a quick 'sorry' and avoided the gaze of the other Brethren who were burning her with their eyes.

"Why would they even assign you this job?" Second hit.

The Brethren Ghoul snarled at Claudia.

"Nothing to fuss about, Alexandria. She already has enough problem with that body of hers." Third hit.

She felt so small. The layout of the room made her feel even more so as the seats of the Brethren were situated at the second level, overlooking the platform where Claudia stood.
