Chapter 6: The Prince’s Castle

------------------------------

“What, wait, what is going on Alexander?” roared Kaine.

Alexander flinched slightly “I just got the news. Your father is extremely ill and you are needed at the castle immediately, my lord.” he said his face held no expression.  “It is at this time, which I suggest we make our leave by nightfall, so that we may reach the homeland before midday tomorrow” replied Alexander, he bowed and turned on his heels and proceeded to leave the room to make the preparation for their long journey.

“Kaine, I will go with you I shall be ready by midnight” said Katherine said determinedly.

“No” Kaine said a bit too fast, and retracted “I mean it is fine. It will be a long journey and---”

“No, it will be fine, I will be fine” said a desperate Katherine.

“Katherine, will you listen,” he sighed harshly, having no patience left to deal with this  woman “if I need for you to come I will call  on you, or come and get you myself, just let me go and check up on my father and make sure he is doing well” responded Kaine in a brute manner.

“I am going to pack” said Kaine to no one. “And you Miss., can you get me a glass of water, I will be in my room” he commanded nodding at Lily.

“Yes, my Lord” Lily bowed before walking into the kitchen.

“Kaine, I am going to inform my mother about your father” said Katherine but he had already left the room.

---------

What am I going to do? Father I hope you are not too ill” thought Kaine pacing the length of his bedroom. The handsome Prince, had a worried expression on his face, he tried to think of other things to keep his mind occupied. He grimaced at the thought of Katherine’s clingy personality.

Knock

“Come in” Kaine responded hoping it’s not Katherine again.

“I bought your glass of water, my Lord” said Lily softly, placing the glass on the table beside the bed.

“Can you close the door for me?” asked Kaine.

“Of course, sir” Lily said as she walks out the door before pursuing to close the door.

“NO!” said Kaine in what he thought was a slightly raised voice but by the fear in Lily’s eyes he knew that he did more than slightly raised his voice.

“I am sorry but can you please stay here and close the door” whispered Kaine.

Lily did not say anything but closes the door behind her and stood by it, her hands clasped together.

Kaine was back to pacing the floor again and did not notice Lily move a little closer to him until Lily whispered soothingly, “Everything will be okay, Kaine. Your father has a lot of people helping him through it. Don’t worry yourself a hole, your just fall in.”

Kaine just looked at Lily and saw hope and faith in her eyes and he didn’t know what came to him but he hugged her. Lily did not except it either but knew he needed comfort, so she wrapped her arms around him into a hug. A tight hug that told Kaine that everything will be fine and that he did not need to worry.

“Don't worry, everything will be just fine” she reassured him.

As nightfall had approach, Alexander and Kaine were ready to leave and were about to say their goodbyes.
