"So I have to ask, your bio" I said smiling at the green eyed man sitting at the table in front of me. He seemed really fun by the messages we exchanged. I'm excited to get back on the dating horse. And he has a gorgeous smile.
"What about it?" He said taking a sip from his beer.
"the 'I killed hitler. You're welcome' part. I mean if you did, thank you. You did a massive service to the world." I said laughing. His eyes kinda lit up. Almost a twinkle to them.
"Yeah, you're welcome. Guy was a real dick." He smiled. At least he has a good sense of humor. I swear though he's so familiar.
"You're totally my hero then. So you never said, what line of work are you in, other than killing nazis?" I asked before taking a sip from my bright pink drink.
"Federal agent actually." He said with a very macho voice. A part of me believes it but another part doubts it.
"So working a case in my humble little town?" I asked leaning in flashing my cleavage in hopes of learning more.
"Yeah. I'll probably be here another week finishing things up." He said taking another sip of his beer.
And here's the waitress with our food. I still find it amusing we ordered the same thing.
"They have the best bacon burgers here." I said before taking a bite. God these burgers are the best.
"Oh my god this is so good" He said with a mouthful. "So what do you do?" He said between bites.
"I'm a veterinarian. Just because the lives I save are furry, doesn't mean I'm not a bad ass. You should see the scars" I said laughing. His smile really is nice.
"You'll just have to show me." He said smirking at me.
"Then I suggest you eat quickly." And with that his eyes lit up.
"I like you." He said with a smirk.
"So Eddie, do you like your job? I mean never getting to settle down much?" I asked as we continued to eat. It felt like we were kindred spirits in a way. Sure, hunting and immortality are different from being an FBI agent. But at least I can pretend for tonight.
"You get used to it. I've been doing this for so long now." He said sorrowfully.
"I bet you've got a girl like me in every city" I said with a flirty voice trying to hide my thoughts.
"How could I? I've never met a girl like you" he said smiling. Damn he's smooth.
"I don't want to admit how smooth that was." I said sipping from my drink. He just chuckled a little. Man his eyes light up. Don't get attached Sloane. You know how this goes.
"In all seriousness, I usually don't have time to date." He said with a lonely look on his face.
"Lonely?" I asked looking up from my drink as I asked.
"Yeah, but I save lives, that makes it worth it." He said clearly trying to convince himself of it.
"Well, you've got a girl waiting in this part of the world now." I said touching his hand as he smiled.
"Then I guess I'm just going to have to find a way to pass through here more often." He said smiling. Not a smirk, but a genuine smile.
Why do you do this Sloane? You know this is a mistake. You know damn well this is a mistake. Yet here you are developing feelings for a hookup. Do you think you have a future with him? A family, kids? Don't be ridiculous.
"Let me get the check" I said as he flagged the waitress pulling out his wallet.
"I can't let you do that." He said smiling.
