The Training

Dragonite, Noctowl and I were above our home island and heading towards a training island? It was all very confusing and sudden. Within a 5 minute period, I had been told I was leaving, kissed goodbye and then taken off with my escort. It wasn't surprising I was spaced out and letting my wings fly on autopilot. It was a good thing too, otherwise I would've been left behind.

"Where going?" I decided asking some questions would be a good start.

"The island is very close. We are nearly there." Noctowl said, calm as always.

"Hey kiddo, wanna race?" Dragonite taunted.

I smirked. This was kind of our thing. Ever since my first flying lesson, Dragonite had teased and taunted me, showing off all his arial tricks. It had become a competition and I was always trying to outdo the obnoxious dragon.

"You on." I retorted and before either Pokemon could react, I was actively pushing my wings.

I flew a few feet ahead of them, my smaller body letting me outpace them for a moment, and I let myself dip down. After a few seconds I angled my body upwards and did a mid-air flip. Reaching a full loop, I sidled next to the two impressed Pokemon.

"That was pretty impressive, brat." Dragonite retorted by flying straight up and then closing his wings completely. He let gravity drag him down but before he got too far, he twisted his body and let his wings jet out. The air caught under the wide surface area and Dragonite rose up 20 feet in seconds.

I had to admit, that was a pretty neat trick.

"Okay for old man." I said, snidely.

Noctowl chuckled, surprising me. I thought the well-mannered, uptight owl Pokemon would be too serious for our petty games.

Dragonite and I continued to do arial tricks and tried to outdo each other until Noctowl halted our activities.

"We are above the island, you two. Please stop your game." Just as he said, we were above a small island, similar to our own. Covered in green forestry, it was hard to tell anything astonishing about this island.

With a signal from the two Grown Up Pokemon, I tilted my wings and we started descending to the island. As the forest came closer, we headed towards a gap in the trees, landing on a small stretch of green within the all consuming trees. The leaves rustled with the strength of Dragonite's and Noctowl's wings beating, and I was just surprised I didn't get blown away. I managed to land evenly and all three of us tucked our wings away.

I looked around, curious but all I saw was shady forests and dappled paths within the woods. For a moment I was brought back to when I had landed on that first island, where there was no one and nothing. I was brought out of my sudden dread by a rustling in the foliage and a little Fomantis popped it's head out of the bush.

The little Pokemon (honestly, who am I to be calling another Pokemon little) looked at us and I stared back awkwardly.

Noctowl took the lead, like usual, and asked the Fomantis, in a friendly tone, a few questions.

"Hello there, we are here for the start of the training season. Where is it being held?" He asked politely and the Fomantis nodded.

"Yes, yes training. Very close. I show you." The voice was nearly as high pitched as mine and I could tell this Pokemon was also quite young.

The Fomantis turned around and waddled back into the bush. I looked to Dragonite and he just shrugged.

"Em, scuse me little guy, where are you goin?" The dragon Pokemon said in the politest tone I'd ever heard from him.
