Rowan Blanchard as Kate Warren

"we only talk. nothing more."
Kate Warren didn't like herself. She didn't like her looks or her personality. The girls at school would judge her about her hobbies all the time. They argued with her for no reason; they talked about her like she did something wrong. Of course, Kate didn't know what she did.
She was excited about the smallest things, and she never liked when someone brought her down. That happened a lot and she didn't know how to stop to from happening. So she started to read. Not history books, or romantic books, but dystopian.
Many of them had a world where everyone acted the same. If only she could be like everyone else. A lot of them showed the characters with so much courage. Kate didn't understand how they could be so brave. If she was that brave, she could stand up to her bullies.

Kate twisted the lock and opened her locker. Thoughts of all the things they said about her made her teary eyed. But when she looked at her father's picture, she knew she had to stay strong; not for them, not for her, but for him.
Then the idea of shutting them down, calling them out for their actions, came to mind. "Maybe I should say something to them", she thought, "or is that too risky?" Within a minute or so, the girls approached her.
Kate sighed and shut her locker. "What do you want, Evelyn?"
"Woah, you don't like me?" Evelyn scoffed, "I thought we were friends."
"Friends don't bully each other," Kate said, trying to walk away from the scene.
"I don't bully you, I just... tease you sometimes. You take things too personal," Evelyn commented, making her friends laughed.
"Can you just leave me alone?" Kate asked, turning around to face her.
"Oh, the small mouse speaks?" Evelyn asked in a baby voice.
"Didn't you hear what she said?" I turned to see a brunette haired girl walking towards me. My oh my, she was pretty.
"Who are you?" Evelyn asked, raising an eyebrow.
The girl smiled, "someone who thinks you should be in your place."
"yeah? no one dares to that to me." Evelyn smiled her perky smile. "Everyone loves me here, I'm the smartest in my class."
"Oh please, the smartest thing that ever came out of your mouth was a penis." she snapped, grabbing my arm, gently to lead me away. We turned around and started to walk away. Everyone stared at us with wide eyes.
Then the girl turned around again. "And if you really wanted people to like you, maybe you should eat your make-up so you could be pretty on the inside."
"Please, be done. Let this be a dream. She did not just say all of that." Kate thought.
We walked into the bathroom and the girl sighed.
"My name's Vanessa and as you could see, I hate people like that." she said, tying up her hair.
"yeah," Kate chuckled, "thank you."
"Hey, do you wanna hang out today? After school, of course." she asked.
Kate didn't know this girl, but she had that gut feeling that she would soon become her best friend.
"Sure."
