"I know." she said, walking out and slamming the door.
She ran home that day. Thinking she wasn't good enough for anything in the world. Her hand throbbed with pain. The weather was still hot and she ran out of breath. She walked the rest of the way.
Aidan followed behind, as he watched the stranger girl enter her house. He seemed like it was wrong to follow her, but he cared. He only just met her and it seemed like... she was special to him.
Kate slammed the door to her house. Her father wasn't home which angered her even more. Then she thought of her mom. Then she felt like a terrible sister. Stop, she thought, focus on your bleeding hand!
She quickly ran up the stairs and grabbed a tweezer to take the glass out. And she badged it quickly. There's no way to hide this from dad.
Kora banged on her bathroom door, "Kate! Some boy is here to see you."
Kate gasped and looked at her injured hand.
"Ok!" she yelled, opening the door. Kora stared at Kate's hand.
"I'm hurt, I know." she said.
"Dad's gonna bring yo-" Kora said, as Kate walked down the stairs. She sighed as she saw Aidan standing in her living room. He stared at the baby pictures of Kate and Kora. He chuckled softly to himself. Then he looked at her mother's picture where she sat in a chair holding Kate.
"That's my mom." Kate said, making Aidan turn around.
"Is your hand okay?" he asked, grabbing it instantly, but softly. He examined it with caution.
"Its okay." she said, walking to sit down. She patted the couch for him to sit. He followed her motion.
"Is she that mean?" Aidan asked.
Kate looked at him, "yes."
"Kate. Sometimes, you have to see the good in people." he said, "do you even know her like that?"
Kate thought about it. No, Kate never asked or cared enough to really know.
"No." she said.
"well, her mother's battling cancer right now." he said. Kate's eyes sadden and the light went away.
"Sometimes, you need to know the full story." Aidan said.
