Good Day

Today has been a good day so far, I had taken the doctor back to Earth where we enjoyed some fish and chips. Well, I mean chips.

"How can something that tastes so good, be so bad for you?" The Doctor munched on another chip.

I shook my head, "The same way that something that tastes so bad can be so good for you."

"I don't care how good it is, I refuse to eat Cauliflower."

"It's the same as broccoli!"

He shook his head, "I refuse to eat mini trees of all sorts then!"

I ate my crisps while the Doctor finished his chips.

When his box was empty, he looked at me expectantly, "What are we doing today?"

I looked to my watch and saw that it wasn't the date to meet Rose, so we were in the clear for facing plastic men.

"I had no major plans, figured a robot invasion would happen and we would have to save the day."

The Doctor looked concerned, "Really?"

I shrugged, "It's always a possibility. For now, we can just wander and enjoy the day."

The Doctor nodded and stood up, ready to go as I paid. When we exited the shop he glanced around at the other shops nearby, "What's that place there?" His head had nodded in the direction of an indoor park.

"An indoor park. Since it rains so much, I donated a small loan to the city to build an indoor park. Where I come from, they are a very popular, though expensive, thing." They weren't like the McDonald's places. But they were a glass building with slides, ball pits, trampolines, and sometimes a small cafe.

"I've heard of them before. Never had the time to stop in one."

I smiled, "You want to visit?"

"Wouldn't it be weird?"

"Nope!" I popped the p, "And who cares? We are grow adults, no one can boss us around."

He chuckled, but accepted as I took his hand and pulled him towards the indoor play place.

When we got in, some of the employees smiled as they knew me, "Ms. Moors, lovely to see you again. Just you and this gentleman?"

I nodded, "Yes ma'am."

She gave us wristbands and we were permitted to enter. The first place the Doctor went was the trampolines, and I followed after him. I didn't mean to be creepy as I watched thw children interact with one another as they bounced on thw trampolines with their parents.

I looked to the Doctor and watched him smile and look ober at me proudly as he did different tricks. He was no different from the children around us in this moment.

I bounced with his until I heard a child scream, "My brother! Please help him! He said something is grabbing his leg in the Ball Pit!"

The Doctor and I both stopped bouncing and rushed to help. Seeing as no other adults came as they thought it was a joke or game.

But I could feel the difference. It had a burning sensation with it, but I could feel the genuine fear from the boy.

"Where are your parents?"

The boy was crying, "Mum is in the bathroom, she told us to wait, but Josh didn't want to."

The Doctor continued to comfort him, and I left him to it as he had experience with children.

I rushed to the ball pit, it was empty and the "life guard" wasn't even paying attention as I jumped in.

I heard a muffled help and felt something tickle my foot. I reached down and pulled up a boy that had tears streaming down his face, "It was like the snake from Harry Potter! He tried to eat me!"

I hushed him as I pulled him from the ball pit and out of earshot from the 'life guard', "What happened?"

"Mum went to the bathroom, and my brother had said he lost his glasses in the ball pit, he didn't want to get in trouble so he pushed me in and told me to get them while I was in there. I felt something poke my let and thought it was the glasses, when I reached for it, my hand latched onto the snake thing. I must've scared it, cause it started to move deeper into the ball pit. My brother noticed and ran off, probably that's how you knew to get here, but while he was gone the snake thing pulled me even deeper! I tried to call for the person, but the balls just covered my mouth and muffled my sound."

He hugged me quickly, "Thank you for saving me, but I better go before my brother finds mum." Then he rushed off.

But not before I noticed the bruise on the back of his neck.

The Doctor came over to me, "What happened?"

"You know how I jokingly said that robots were gonna attack?"

He nodded.

"Turns out it's not robots, but the Harry Potter Basalisk."
