Awake

I was in and out of sleep. I heard brief yells of pain and felt painful bruising in my back whenever I did manage to wake up for the slightest bit. But, I only drifted off again.

*Doctor's POV*

I had drifted once or twice, but I would always be woken up by loud screams, "What is this horrid thing doing here?! This monster is not good for our tribes! He will kill the rest of us once he gets the chance!"

"Now, that's not anyway to talk about your paying customers." They all turned to look at me.

"You and your friend are not responding as you should. This process should put you to sleep for days, not hours!"

I smile, "Love being told I'm unique! And as for my friend, I dont know what she is... My ship won't even tell me."

"Now, what are you, why are you here, and whats the fastest way I can get rid of you. After all, you hurt my friend and countless other people. One monster per galaxy, yeah?" My voice had been dark enough and hard enough to run a shiver up my own spine. I wonder if it'll be enough to make them run?

"We are the Yxzople, this world normally has such pure dreams, the best way to feed is off other people. It's why you won't be getting rid of us."

Syria started to shake, almost as if in pain. This pissed me off, and seemed to annoy the Yxzople, "If she wakes up again, she'll kill herself before we can get enough energy from her."

"What a shame?! Why don't you let her go, nightmares are common." I shrug, "There isn't always gonna be something pleasant to dream about."

"You are only oddities, rarities. There will be no more bad batches."

"You said I killed you, the rest of you at least. How do you figure that?"

The leader scoffed, "You are the last of the time lords, the Doctor, the mecriless warrior. You ended the time war along with countless species. You filled our food supply with poison-"

"It's not my fault you lot are a parasite!"

"It takes one to know one!" He took a breath, "You are the one that feeds off her happiness, your own happy memories. And in the end, when the happiness is all dried up, you will starve. Like the rest of my people did."

"Then I guess I will meet you in Hell." While we had been bantering, I had been scanning the room for escapes and found a good way out.

I soniced the locked door to the left, lifted Syria, soniced a computer, and ran. I ran like I hadn't for years. Like I never planned on doing again.

I heard yells and I didn't stop, and this time, I doubt I ever truly will.

Behind me alrams were blaring, people were running in opposite directs, off to fix the permanently damaged processor that they were using to feed off dreams.

Rule 39; don't let me mess with buttons.

Rule 2; don't mess with my friends.

Rule 1C; Run!

"If they want to survive, they should be running along side you."

I looked down at Syria, "I didn't kill them, they will just need to find a new way to eat. If they keep it up, I won't be as kind."

I felt her chuckle, "This is why you are the good man."

"What do you mean?"

"You saved the day without killing anyone. It's why you're the Doctor."

"The Doctor. I always liked the ring of that. I think I'll keep it." I joked.

She laughed again, painfully this time, "You never lost it."

Her eyes fluttered shut, I couldn't feel her pulse as well as I felt my own. It pounded as I pushed myself to run to the Tardis faster.

I harshly slammed the door open, "Sorry!"

I continued running to the infirmary, "If I am the Doctor, then you must be my patient... And I won't loose another one."
