I woke up inside the dressing room jail, that seemed to become my home. I put a hand over my face. Yesterday, it seemed like a month, but it was yesterday that I had just started to clear part of the city. If only I didn't snap, Dred wouldn't be trying so hard to get me killed. I knew that this was a suicide mission that I was on. I knew that his men were also securing the places cleared out after I was done, but still I was being used. Todat is going to be my second time out the next section of the city. I sighed, yesterday was so exhausting. I was all alone on the ground killing zombie after zombie. I had to run for several hours, and survive, while being laughed at from above. Then I realized that that was only the first day.
A knock on my door sent me jumping out of bed and Jackson busting in. "Morning, miss me babe?" He asked, an arrogant smile on his face. "Time to go!" He grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the room. He threw me down on the ground and I tumbled at the feet of none other than Dred. He laughed at me and patted Jackson on the back. "Good job son, if you can tame her, you can have her." he spoke as if I was a dog. I growled and they seemed to remember that I was still here. Dred's eyes narrowed as he looked into my hate filled ones. Pain exploded in my sides as they were kicked. "Let's try to be more appreciative, Ash. I don't like the look your giving me." He said, venom laced into each word. He dropped my ax on the ground and all I could do was stare. "Well, what are you waiting for, pick it up? Aren't you hungry?" Dred said, crouching down to be eye level with me. "I can take her for breakfast, sir." Jackson boldly stated. Dred however, ignored him because I knew that Dred wasn't talking about food, but about bloodshed.
I didn't know how to react. Now that he knew my flaws, he would exploit them to their fullest. He saw me waver and a grin slipped up on his face. "It's ok, you don't have to answer, beceause I know the truth." He stood up and held out his hand. I grabbed it and stood up while getting a firm grip on my ax.
I could do it, I could swing my ax and chop his head off right now. I thought to myself. Dred read me like a book and punched me in the face. I didn't fall, but my eye sight disapeared for a bit. Jackson yelled out in suprise and took a step back. "Why'd you do that?" He asked, clearly disgusted that his leader just punched a girl in the face. "You'll never survive in this world if you can't figure it out yourself, stupid boy." Dred snapped. Jackson seemed to shrink back and nodded, if not for respect, than fear. I held my head high, though. "You're smarter than you look." I said to him while I wiped the trickle of blood off my cheek.
Dred walked away practically skipping. He is totally insane.
"Why did he do that?" Jackson asked angrilly. I looked up at him confused. "Why do you suddenly give one?" I asked back.
In my book, you can't act like a jerk and then change your mind the moment that someone gets beat up. Why would people act like that? Do the pity you and then decide hey, i'll be the nice guy now? Well sorry, I don't wipe the slates clean. I can forgive you, but I certianly have a hard time forgetting you.
"Weren't you the one who threantend to find my sister yesterday? You think I can just pretend you didn't say that?" I whispered. I don't know why I was whispering but, it seemed to give the desired effect. His face fell and he looked hurt. "But your the person who almost got Christopher killed and others in danger, trying to save you." He whispered back. I tilted my head at him. "How?" I asked. "You were gunna ax Mike, I saw it, and then you tried to commit suicide and abondon your sister. While trying to draw off the Zombs, Chris ended up getting trapped and eaten alive. I can still hear his screams, begging for them to stop. Knowing that they would only continue and draw more. How can you talk to me?" He said just as angry as me. I smiled at him, not evily, but clearly not caring about the tone of his voice but pretending not to be affected by his story.
