Broken Book 2: Lucy's Return

Chapter 2

The guild members led the mysterious pair back to the guild hall as had been requested of them. Levy was the first to speak. "What do you mean brother? We checked over Lucy's ancestral linage extensively and found no other living family members; much less a brother."  The man cleared his throat before speaking. "That's because even the Heartfilia's thought Sir Luke had died. It was believed that he had died during birth, but in reality he was kidnapped and his parents memories altered." "That's just crazy." Gray groaned. "Who's gonna believe a story like that? No one can even confirm it." "Mr. Luke believes that a DNA test could confirm his identity quickly and easily." The purple haired woman replied. "How do we know it's his DNA that's being compared and not just another sample of Lucy's or her parents?" Cana asked quickly. "You may extract the sample yourself directly from the source." A new voice suddenly pierced through the guild. Everyone turned and looked at the source of the voice. Another man in a black suit stood at the doors, he was tall and muscular with chocolate eyes and medium length blonde hair that was partially pulled into a pony tail.  "I'm sorry to interrupt, I am Luke Heartfilia; Lucy's older brother." The guild members all looked at the man in awe. He certainly looked like he could be related to Lucy. The master cleared his throat and approached the man. "If you are indeed Lucy's brother why are you appearing only now? Lucy is no longer among the living so what is the point of appearing now? There is nothing to be gained by suddenly appearing." "I understand how you feel, please take your sample and compare the DNA, confirm our relationship first then I will gladly answer any questions you may have. There is no rush, I'm staying at an inn in town. Once you receive the results you may contact Mr. Daniels or Iris, they'll be able to contact me the quickest." The guild members looked at the man and his companions skeptically, but the master nodded in agreement. "Very well." He reached his arm up and swiftly yanked out a few of Lukes hair walking them over to Mira. "Then I look forward to hearing from you. Especially you Mr. Dragneel." With a final wave of his hand, he and his companions disappeared through the doors.
"What do you think master?" Erza asked walking closer to him. "I must admit he does look incredibly like Lucy, but it's hard to believe." "He smells like her." Natsu mumbled. "What? What do you mean? Like they use. The same shampoo?" Gray asked. "No. They have a similar natural smell, beneath any shampoo or perfume. Something that under normal circumstances only family members share." Gajeel answered gruffly. "Is it possible to alter something like that?" Mira asked quietly. "Not that I'm aware of, but that doesn't mean it isn't." He replied. "We can't just blindly place our trust in these people. Too many people are after Lucy's body. We must protect our family no matter what. Levy Gajeel you two look into this further. Erza, Gray and Natsu you three look into Lucy's family again. If they're telling the truth, some documentation of Luke must be out there, even if he as believed to have died at birth. Mira you and I will handle the DNA test. The rest of you break off into groups of 3, we must increase the security at Lucy's grave site. No one outside the guild may visit until this matter is handled."
