I slipped through the night and crossed the border into another packs territory, my breathing labored as I tried to catch my breath. Despite the food and small reprieve from beatings I was still weak, most of the nutrients I had ingested were fixing the wounds on my body.

I closed my eyes and sniffed the air, I couldn't smell anything but I knew he was out there waiting, watching. I shifted slightly, getting a feeling of my surroundings, I moved forward keeping my eyes closed and my other senses open.

The small shift in the air to the right of me alerted me to him as he came at me, I moved out of the way just in time. His fist was a hairs width away from connecting to my cheek, I lazy left my foot out as he sailed passed me and slammed into the ground.

I smirked at the incredulous look on his handsome face, I had easily dodged his attack and didn't even see him coming.

"I wouldn't be smirking if I were you," he chuckled lowly. "I was moving at the speed of a human, had I actually put some wolf speed behind it you wouldn't be standing right now."

I narrowed my eyes at him and surprised both of us by taking the bait.

"Fine, if that's how you feel, give me the best you got Alpha." I mocked and smirked as his eyes started to darken. He nodded at me once before turning around, I smirked one last time before darting into the trees, I wasn't that fast and I knew he would catch up to me but I liked the feeling of being free.

Slowing to a walk I sniffed around me, the air was bright and clean, the wind in the trees blowing steadily. I moved steadily between the trees waiting for that slight change to the natural elements around me.

I didn't have to wait long, closing my eyes I stopped walking. Moving in a slow circle I listened and sniffed at the air, nothing was giving him away. I smirked when I realized I had probably hurt his pride.

I stilled, relaxing my body and letting my senses rule my body. The slight breeze blowing my clothes across my body, the slight flush of air that came from the front of me. He was making It to easy, I waited for the attack but he was just playing, I tilted my head listening to his light foot steps as he raced at wolf speed across the ground.

I admired his skill, he was almost too quiet to hear as he raced towards me. I felt a shift in the air as his arm swung towards my face, ducking down as quick as I could, his arm slipping over the top of my head. Opening my eyes, I kicked out my foot and landed it right on his ass.

A low growl emitted from his throat and something in that sound had my wolf pushing through the recess of my mind and emitting a growl in response. I covered my mouth in a shocked gesture as his eyes rounded in surprise and faded back to his normal color.

"Well that certainly changes things." He chuckled, "Come on." He said before he began walking back to where we came from.

I frowned when I noticed that I really hadn't run that far, I knew wolves at top shape could run a couple miles in minutes. I had been running for a least 20 min and made it less than a mile. I sighed as I continued to follow Caleb, in no time we were seated beneath a tree.

"Are you going to tell me how I did?" I inquired looking at my hands.

"I will as soon as you eat the food I brought you." He said, glancing towards him I watched him pull out a cooler from behind the tree and push it towards me. I reached inside and pulled out baked chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, bread rolls and a giant cheesecake.

My cheeks burned when I caught a whiff of the food and my stomach growled. I looked up at Caleb, he was leaning back on his hands with his ankles crossed in front of him, his head leaning to one side and his eyes closed. I took a moment to look at him without my hair as a shield, he was very handsome.
