Chapter 22
The ball seemed to flash by after you meeting Whitney. He was kind and sweet and enchanting. You loved his voice, his face, just... him. You'd much rather marry Whitney than Angel.
Finally, people began leaving. Whitney caught you behind a pillar and kissed you goodbye for the evening. You were full of party snacks and tired from your heels. You stumbled back to your room with a giddy smile on your face.
You were in love. And there was no doubt about it!
Angel caught Whitney just before he left, standing outside the front doors of the manor.
"Hey, Whit," he called out. The bluenette smirked and turned around, hiding a mischievous 'Mr. Steal Yo Fiance' smirk.
"Yes, Angel?" Angel approached his cousin with his hands in his pockets.
"We should talk. You've been here all night and we haven't had the chance to talk."
"From our last three encounters, I think that everyone here can agree it would be best if we didn't." Aki called Whitney's name from the waiting limo. "I'll be back tomorrow. We'll talk then. Farewell, my beloved cousin." Angel scowled at Whitney as he disappeared from sight.
You stripped off the expensive dress and washed off all your makeup before deciding to take a nice, long bath in the jacuzzi. You started it yourself since Emiko wasn't nearby, and you liked adding as much soap for bubbles as you wanted.
As you settled into the bath, you took a deep breath and reminisced on the shared moment with Whitney on the patio. You already missed the feel of his hands, the warmth of his lips, the wistful gaze he never dropped. Whitney Aneroga was like a renaissance painting, perfect in every possible way.
Little did you know about the sleek car approaching the Cosimo Manor, one extremely confused Miranda LN in the back seat, complaining to her extremely passive father about how her fiance was throwing a party in her honour but didn't seem to bother to invite her.
"I mean, what the hell, Daddy!" The 18 year old whined. Her sleek black hair was done up beneath a crystal tiara, and her tan skin was caked in makeup. Her pink dress was short and frilly, just as she always demanded it to be.
"Don't worry, Miranda, sweety. I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding. Cornelius Cosimo would never pull a prank like this. He's far too mature for this sort of thing." Miranda rolled her eyes as they pulled into the driveway of the manor, parking beside another array of expensive cars. Miranda smirked as she looked over the manor and estate that would be hers soon enough, after she cleared up this misunderstanding.
Her father, Hiram LN, approached the doors while rubbing his hands together nervously. He hated this situation. He hated how he was stuck there. He hated his bitchy daughter, his controlling wife, and his daughter's absolutely terrifying fiance. That kid, Angel Cosimo, gave Hiram a heart attack constantly.
Miranda appeared beside her father, a big fake smile showing off her shiny fake teeth. He hesitantly knocked on the door of the manor. A small maid, Emiko, opened it, greeting the pair at the door. Mr. LN explained to Emiko how he and his daughter had to speak with the Cosimo family as quickly as possible to clear up the misunderstanding.
Mr. Cosimo met Mr. LN and Miranda in the foyer, greeting them with open arms and fresh made pudding. Mrs. Cosimo joined shortly after. The four began talking, and not even three minutes later were flooded by a wave of confusion.
Meanwhile, you got out of the bathtub and changed into your pajamas in the bathroom. Exiting to your bedroom, you jumped back when you saw Angel laying on your bed, eyes closed and hands resting on the back of his head.
"Well," he said as his eyes opened and stared at the ceiling. "You sure got cozy with my cousin, huh?" You rolled your eyes and grabbed a hairbrush off the vanity in the corner.
"Don't pretend to care, Angel. I know you're only marrying me because your parents want you to. As soon as we're married you're gonna jump on the nearest woman and not care about what I do. Why should you care now?" Angel sat up in the bed, a glare on his face.
"YN, you are my fiance. We were supposed to be together from birth. There's nothing that can change this. And I don't want you conversing with that monster I'm forced to call a cousin."
"Whitney is not a monster! He is a good man, and he is sweet, and kind, and loving and he cares about me more than you ever have and ever will!" Angel opened his mouth to argue, but there was a knock at the door. It creaked open as Mrs. Cosimo entered with a smug grin on her face.
"Ms. YN LN, we have to talk."
