3 - I Have Seen You Before
I rushed into where the bands were, already making a pretty good explanation in my mind on why I was late. But how could I tell my employer I had latté on my bra and beyond without making him think of my boobs?
A boy band and a girl band were in there, looking intently at me when I stepped in. The man who hired me for this photo shoot, Hugo, was there talking to both bands. For what I could hear, it was a pep talk. When Hugo saw the diverging looks to something behind him, he turned around and looked at me. I could see relief in his features. I smiled sheepishly at him, hoping he would not fire me right then and there. Even though it would be pretty difficult to find another stylist quickly so early in the morning, so I had that on my side and my hopes high.
“Good morning Kelly. Where is Blaze?”
“Good morning. She is not coming.”
“She is not?”
“No.”
“So you are on your own?”
“Yes.”
“Oh…Well we should get started anyway. Do you think you can handle this on your own? Is she coming tomorrow¡”
“Yes, I will be just fine. And I have not been able to talk with her, I had an incident. But I will call her as soon as I can and I will immediately after let you know.”
“Okay, so lads,” he said motioning to the bands, “this is Kelly she is your hair and clothing stylist. She will be taking care of your image but you have to pay attention to her and cause no trouble or make no fuzz because she is on her own today. So be good and do as she says.”
The boys and girls nodded understandingly. I looked over at them, taking in every single one of them, trying to see what their style was, and already planning outfits in my mind. I just love to be able to do that, have an idea in my head as soon as I see my client, or anyone in the street, actually.
Some of the lads started saying things about being enchanted to help me that made the other ones laugh and I laughed as well. Men can be so silly sometimes.
“Hi Lads.” I said, enjoying my professional voice tone and how it got everyone’s attention on me. I have been practicing it, and lately it is working a lot better than before.
The cute lads in the boy band waved and two of them even winked at me, shocking me and making me blush but I tried to hide it. If there is something I have learned in this job is to be professional.
The pretty girls in the girl band waved and smiled politely. But then I noticed that the girls were only three. I was pretty sure I had been told they were four girls and five boys.
“Are you only three?” I asked them confused as Hugo exited the room, leaving me alone with five boys and three girls. I could swear Hugo had said they were four members in the girl band. That is how I had organized the wardrobe.
“No,” a girl with beautiful curled locks said. “We are missing a girl.”
“Yeah, Perrie is missing,” said the red head.
“We have no idea where she is. She went to buy a latté and she has not come back yet,” said the other girl, a beautiful brunette.
I could not help but immediately think about the girl I bumped into before. Could she be the one they are talking about? My cheeks immediately flushed, thinking about how embarrassing it would be if she was indeed the fourth member of the band. Given my luck, I was pretty sure she would be. “Oh, I see. You guys are not missing anyone right?” I say to the boy band.
“No.” Said a tall, and sexy if I may add, lad. I nodded and carried on, trying to ignore the drool that was threatening on coming out if I stared at him for too long.
“Okay, so let’s start to pick your outfits while we wait for Perrie.” I said and clapped to get everyone going.
“Let’s do it!” Shouted another of the lads, sounding pretty much like a fraternity boy and making everyone grin. It seems as if I was left with a grou0p of class clowns.
“Which are the names of your bands?” I asked knowing I had seen these bands somewhere before in the television.
“We are Little Mix.” The girls chorused.
“We are Bombay Bicycle Club.” The boys chorused.
“Oh, I knew I had seen you before! I like your music.” I said grinning, internally fangirling over meeting other two famous bands here in the UK.
We all started to search in the racks, which had all of the clothing and the outfits. All of them were giving their opinions on the outfits I had created. I walked to the boom box they had there and turned it up. I Love It by Icona Pop started playing and the girls and I moved to the beat of the music as the lads pretended to have electric guitars and drums, and moved their, thanks to god, still not done hair. If they were already done, I would kill them. I laughed as I looked around me, thinking about how long it had been since I had hung out with someone my age. I had pretty much closed myself into my work and forgot about the other aspects in my life. So let’s not even think about my nonexistent love life or I will get depressed.
Then, out of the blue a girl I had definitely seen before appeared in the door. She grinned as she saw us moving like crazy people searching for clothing. I turned to her and tried to ignore the oddness of the situation, already accepting my fate to be in awkward positions throughout my life.
“You are Perrie right?”
“Yes, aka the latté spiller.”
I smiled at her and motioned her to get closer to the rack of clothing. “You left me waiting for you in the bathroom,” she said quietly.
“I am sorry but I was going to be late for work.” I said trying to excuse myself to her. I smiled sheepishly, trying to get her to forgive me and then she smiled, letting me know she already had.
“No problem. I did cause it after all. But I will probably get in trouble for coming in late.” She said biting her lower lip. “Still need the shirt?” She asked after, staring at my still full of latte shirt.
“Please,” I said, smiling thankfully at her.
She handed me the shirt and as she reunited with her band and the boys’ band to search in the racks, I quickly excused myself and went to an annexed room to change myself.
After a while of creating and un-creating outfits, it was all finally ready. “Okay guys, now that everyone is here, let’s go change. Get the clothing that is yours and go change.” I said handing each of them their outfits as they walked up to me, making a straight line to get their clothing.
“And what about the hair? How are we going to do that?” asked a really white guy.
“First the girls and then the boys,” I explained to everyone since they all seemed to want to know about that. I always want everyone to know everything, so there are no questions later on. They all nodded agreeing and went to change.
Twenty minutes later I started to do makeup and hair.
