Jaycee was holding a smug expression on his face as he sat in the backseat. He was looking at me as if he was mentally saying the word procreation again and again. I rolled my eyes. Martin was driving and we were making our way to IT Park to get to Chris' wife.

“What's going on with you two?” Martin asked. “Nothing.“ I shot Jaycee dagger looks. “We're just thinking of how crazy everything is.” Then Jaycee spoke still wearing that teasing look in his face, “Or why you decided to come back for us?” I blushed not looking at Martin. If ammo wasn't too precious nowadays then I could have shot him in the forehead. “Well, I didn't want to look like a wuss next to the girl.” Martin replied, then I saw Jaycee wink at me from the rearview mirror. “And maybe you gave me something that we should keep holding onto especially during the apocalypse...”

“What is that?” I asked sitting up straight trying to sound bored.

“Hope.” Martin said his eyes still on the road. I looked at him and then at Jaycee who stared out the window, probably thinking of everyone we lost so far. When we reached the entrance of IT Park, we all gasped. The whole road was barricaded with debris and all sorts of shit blocking the way as if forming a wall.

Did this just happen overnight?

Then we looked up, there were people holding wood that had fire lit in the end like in medieval times. Ready to burn whoever (zombie or human) that came close. Jesus Christ, it was like a whole city was there and this was the Berlin wall. Or the entrance to Westeros, I know I should really go easy on the metaphors. But were we really going back the dark ages? “What the fuck is going on here?” Jaycee finally said. Then I realized that the wall wasn't so old fashioned, it had electric wires decorating the area. “How are we going to get in?”

As Jaycee said it, the wall opened I mean literally opened like a makeshift gate or something. I couldn't believe my eyes. “No fucking way!” I cried as we entered and the metal clunking of the walls wete defeaning. The gatekeeper screeched, “Hurry before the horde comes in!” There were shots fired from everywhere and the gate closed just in time. We all sat in the Hummer trying to catch our breath, when a bunch of people surrounded us holding rifles and other weapons you only see in movies. “I think they want us to get out.” I said. Martin shook his head, “This is a bad idea.” He looked at me, his blue eyes filled with worry. “Zombies don't have brains, people have initiative that's what makes them more terrifying.”

“What the hell are you talking about Martin? They built a goddamn wall! These people are smart.” I told him, taking off my seat belt (safety first kids). Martin quickly grabbed my hand, “Exactly, they built a wall. In two days.” The three of us looked outside, the people were just looking at us with their weapons drawn.

“Seriously, you guys watch too much dystopian movies.” I said and opened my door.

There was a lady around her late 20's or so who looked like she in charge. She was holding a katana and only God knows how in the world she got that but it made her look straight out of a Japanese game.

Or a neo hippie since she had a skort on and who the fuck wears skorts nowadays, whatever, this was the apocalypse who cares how you looked.

She raised her arm as she spoke revealing a sleeve tattoo of kitty cats and Tim Burton characters,“Welcome brothers and sister!” Then everyone cheered with her. “You have come to join us, haven't you?” We all looked at each other, Jaycee, Martin and me. “Uh, thanks for letting us in.” Jaycee said. Then the lady's smile widened, “Of course! This is the apocalypse! We have to stick together!” She said and the crowd cheered again. I wasn't so sure but I could have sworn that they were closing in on us and as my eyes scanned around I saw that all their faces were so eager and excited about something.
