You know those two people in school who claim they hate each other but everyone knows they secretly like each other? Well my name for this relationship is the double denial.
I have a girl friend who hates this guy, and the guy is also a friend of mine... So it's really awkward.Every maths lesson:
I hate him.
He is such an idiot.
He should go die... Not literallyAnd every History lesson:
I hate her.
She is such a retard.
She should go die... Wait I take that back. You get the picture right ?
However, even though they claim to "hate" each other, they can't freaking stop talking about each other. The reason why is because they have a liking for each other, let's face it it's OBVIOUS. The funny thing is as much as they hate each other, they will never let anyone bad mouth each other. The boy will never let any other boy talk badly about the girl. And let's just say it's you DO NOT want to insult the boy in front of the girl.
So if their feelings towards each other are so strong, then why haven't they got together yet? The most common reasons are ego, doubt and unawareness.
Ego-
Both of the individuals are being dicks and not saying their feelings out loud because the other should say it first. If you are in a similar situation my advice for you is to grow up and not let the opportunity slip. If you meet a person who keeps you constantly thinking about them (unless they are Voldemort and you are Harry Potter) then they are definitely worth keeping.
A/N If you are an innocent bystander please slap some sense into your friends.
Doubt-
They may be wondering if the other likes them back and they don't want to risk humiliation from the enemy. And that is totally understandable especially with all the "hate" the enemy has been throwing the individual's way.My advice to my friends and anyone else in a similar situation is YOLO. Take risks as long as they are worth it. For more advice read 'the shy relationship'. It is also the duty of friends to help out their doubtful friends so that they can happily get through high school.
Unawareness-
The individual may be completely unaware that they even like their enemy. This can lead to confusion and sadness.
And that is when us friends kick in, help your friend for both your friend's and your sake.
Honestly being the tissue supplier while your friend blabbers on about their depressing love life ain't fun if it happens on a daily process, besides their is only so much Ben and Jerry the human body can take. If you have a friend in the unaware state, you need to play Cupid and help them with subtle hints and sometimes blunt confrontations. In conclusion, the double denial can easily be turned into a relationship with the help of the best people in the world- The third wheeler friends who have nothing better to do with their life than to help other people's relationships since they don't have a love life of their own...AKA me.
I was writing this on my phone so there may be some grammatical errors. Sorry if there is.
This chappie felt meh ... not very interesting. Sorry if you don't like it, I wrote it in maths so it sucks a LOT.
