Clara didn't think this situation would come for her so quickly, to be honest, she didn't think she would ever see Derek Hale again and would be spared this conversation for at least a couple more years or forever. She preferred the latter.

The look on her daughter's face was breaking her heart.

Her face was scrunched up, red with anger and two little fat tears were falling down her cheeks.

Clara moved to stand up her daughter's name barely passing her lips before the little girl made a b-line for the door. Running as fast up the stairs as she could.

The tears had already started, despite trying to hold them in she couldn't.

Derek was a fool. He already knew this for a fact. He needed to make this right, he had just made two of the most important girls in his life cry, he needed to fix it.

"I'll make this right. I promise" Clara watched him leave and make his way upstairs to there daughter. His words didn't give her hope, he had promised things before and look how that had turned out.

He knocked on the door firmly. The sobs didn't quite down the knocks only making them worse.

"Violet, can I come in?" Waiting for a response, he looked around the house. A small house perfect for a small family.

Baby pictures lined the walls, Violet as a baby, Violet and the sheriff, Violet dresses in some type of brown robe next to her uncle holding a green stick type thing and finally Violet and her mother, Both in an embrace and smiling.

When no response came he made the decision to enter, his fingers crossed that he wouldn't meet an angry little girl.

What he saw broke his heart and he was a man that prided himself in showing no emotion.

His little girl was face down on the bed, her body shaking with her sobs.

Crossing the room Derek crouched down beside the girl.

With a sniff, the girl turned her head to look at Derek.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

With a sigh, Derek began his story, how he hurt her mum how he reappeared and how her mum did this all to protect her.

He was sure she didn't understand most of what he said, but the facts that were important seemed to get through to the girl.

He needed to make sure she knew her mother wasn't to blame. If there was anyone to blame it was him.

Clara twiddled her fingers, glaring up at the door every couple of seconds. Hoping that her pouty daughter would stomp down the stairs and give her a wide-eyed look waiting for an explanation. She would have gone up herself but as much as she didn't want to admit it she was a coward.

Even her young child being the slightest bit upset with her, scared her.

A coward she mused.

Stilinski's aren't cowards! She had been through too much in her short life to be scared of a four-year-old. She was a mother she had a responsibility to be the one to explain to her daughter why she was never told much about her father.

She needed to tell her it wasn't Derek's fault. It was her own decision to not tell her. She was to blame.
