MACKENZIE ZIEGLER

FRIDAY MARCH SIXTEENTH dawned bright and sunny, just like any other day in Los Angeles. The birds were tweeting, the sun was shining and the sounds of a bustling city floated in through Mackenzie's window. She awoke naturally, coming to consciousness with a blink of her eyes. Mackenzie squeezed her eyes shut again and sighed, pulling her covers up towards her body and revelling in their warmth.
She had no meetings planned, Cameron was going out with Maddie, and she was going to have the house all to herself for a few hours. Bliss.
Just as she rolled over and reached for her phone, her Mom pushed her bedroom door open. "Hi love," she greeted Mackenzie, "I'm taking the others out now, and then I'm going to the Buckinghams to support Jane. Don't cook anything because you'll burn the house down."
"Mhm. Sounds good." Mackenzie mumbled into her pillow. Her drowsy mind hadn't quite caught up with the situation at hand. "Actually, Mom– can I have Emily over?"
Melissa thought it over, letting out a breath. She finally shook her head. "Maybe tomorrow. I know you're not doing good, and you need to have a rest day."
"But Mom, friends really help me feel–"
"I know they do. If you want a friend, I can organise for the Orlando's to come over." Melissa was stern.
"Oh, um... no thanks."
The Mom crossed her arms at her youngest daughter. "Why are you avoiding them?"
Mackenzie sat up and rubbed her eyes. "I'm not!" She said defensively. From her outburst though, it was quite obvious that she was, in fact, ignoring the Orlando's.
Melissa raised an eyebrow. Mackenzie scrunched up her nose. "Fine. I don't want to see them because Johnny's music came out yesterday and I think he wrote a song about me and it's awkward."
Melissa raised an eyebrow. "Which one?"
"It could be a few of them, but I think it's probably Why. I don't know. He's told me before he's written a song about me so I'm kinda guessing." Mackenzie felt upset all of a sudden.
Thinking about Johnny and what they could have been always hit her in her feels. They'd had a very hard past.
It felt like she hadn't even met him properly when their fans started shipping them together. Before she knew it their fandoms collided full force and by the time Day and Night was released, there were as many Jenzie accounts as there were Ziegler fanpages.
