My favorite place is the mountain. Why? I'm a person who loves the cold, the snow if possible. If it were up to me, I would get up every day at the time my body decided, take a bath, leave my house to sit in a rocking chair, in a simple coat, read one of my thousands of books, and have a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows. Just imagining being able to have such a morning comforts me.
But it's clear that I'm not one of the people the universe loves. It's a day in the month of June, I'm not sure which since my perception of time has never been very good. Contrary to my dreamed situation, I find myself in an unknown desert, tired and thirsty because I forgot my water bottle in the hotel. Tip: Never do it. In a desert you get very thirsty. It's very sunny, just as a curious fact. Another fact, it was around 11 a.m., and we had been in the place for about three hours.
For some reason Frank, my father, always insists on doing morning training. I would prefer to do it after lunch but, as with many other things, he didn't seem to take my idea.
So that's why we were half asleep, half training. Worst of all, he was the one who was doing the least, because he was only correcting us according to what we were doing.
His way of teaching was basic: one vs. one. As we were three brothers, two of us faced each other while the other faced our mother. We always rotated so that it wouldn't be repetitive.
-Move! If you stand without defending yourself and that's why your sister cuts off your arm, even if you have one less arm, you will be punished.
My father is lovely, isn't it?
The truth is that no matter how easy that sounded, following my sister's step was very difficult. If it's true that I'm very good with almost any weapon, much better than any professional, but the fact that Alessandra was teleporting each attack so she couldn't be located didn't make it any easier. Maybe Hannah, my sister, or Scarlett, my mother, would find it easier, since they could cover themselves with a water curtain, but for me, the only one who could only dominate the Shin, it was more complicated.
Have you ever seen Dragon Ball? The way Goku teleports by placing both fingers on his forehead. Well, my sister did the same, but without the necessity of using her hand.
She continued making consecutive attacks, appearing again and again in my blind spots. If I could stop it, I would, but I was using all my energy for it. The winner would be the first to put the opponent in a position where in a real battle he would lose his life. It was difficult just trying to defend myself, so don't say attack.
By the way, my favorite weapon was two throwing blades that were tied with fine chains three meters long, each in one hand and I always carried five more spares on my belt just in case. That way I could have a medium and low attack range. Turning them at high speed made it difficult for people to enter my field to attack me. It was good defense and attack together.
My sister was wearing a double scythe. For me it was something exaggeratedly big, as it was five feet long, and at each end it had a scythe blade as big as its arm. It is true that it was quite practical to put it away, since you only had to stop passing Shin for a few minutes and it returned to being a simple 30-centimeter stick, like the one the police were carrying.
We had been training for as long as I can remember. Training was even more important than school. Well, that classes actually, since we didn't attend a school, we had classes with our mother. I had thought of saying "home school", but we didn't have one either. We lived in a nomadic way, staying in the same place for a maximum of a week. We moved from side to side with my sister's skill. That was quite useful, as we moved between countries without a passport, appearing in the particular place we chose. I had never understood why we lived that way, but I wasn't interested enough to ask.
I went backwards, watching the leaves of the scythe pass within a few centimetres of my face. I threw the blade with my right hand, but at the moment it approached his chest, it was no longer there. Going ahead of his movements, I threw the other one with the left towards my back, waiting for him to hit it when it appeared, (note the fact that in training we always fought with wooden weapons, since we didn't really want to kill ourselves. The real weapons were left for attackers or policemen).
But the gun never hit anything. Suddenly the sun stopped hitting me in the face and at that moment I did what I had already planned. I made a whip movement with both hands, so that both blades would rise sharply. Alessandra was not surprised, she simply put her double scythe into position so my weapons would each enter one of the holes in each blade. Just as they were doing so she turned the scythe at full speed and over her head. That movement, apart from preventing the blades from hitting her, also lifted me up and made me head towards her. I didn't get up much either, because when I was close enough she brought me down with her knee again, hitting my chest. I fell on the sand hard enough to lift a small cloud of it, which also entered my eyes. When I was able to see again, I had my sister over me and a few centimetres from my neck the wooden blade of her double scythe, which was still entangled in my weapons.
-Winner of the fifth fight, and also of the other four, Alessandra. -We both stand up and saw how our father watched us both judging. We both knew that now was the time for observations. They were never positive.- Kai, it's good to try to anticipate the opponent's movements, but don't make the movements blindly please. Ale, you take a lot of risks. If you had returned to the ground you could have beaten him without so much drama. In a one-on-one fight it's fine, but if you had been against several, chains tied together in your weapon wouldn't have been comfortable for you to continue fighting.
Like I said, they were never positive.
-Both of you have good speed, -he continued.- but that you could move faster, you could. -He appeared in the middle of us, putting his arms on our shoulders. Fuck it, a was never able to see his movements, he was too fast. I knew it was just speed because he couldn't teleport. That was just my sister. -I hope someday you'll be able to follow me. You have good movements so you just have to improve in speed and strength. -he smiled.- So as a task you will increase your Shin training by one hour and the corporal training by half an hour.
-But...!
-Now let's see how Scarlett and your sister are doing.
