The music blared loud and her own laughter combined with her friends filled the room with a light spirit. Their feet made echoes on the floor. “I am the opposite of amnesia!” Both girls screamed and Luke curled over in laughter. The song ended and Abi fell backwards onto to the bed, out of breath from her intense dancing. Victoria walked over to the phone and hit pause. Silence filled the room so that it almost seemed empty. “Here, here!” Victoria shouted. Abi forced herself upwards so she could gaze at the smile on Lukes face. “We are gathered here to celebrate the returning of our best friend from idiot camp and that we will be seniors next year as well as our long lasting friendship!” “Amen!” Abi joked and Luke’s smile now stretched to both ends of his face, making Abi’s heart pound. “Thanks guys. I missed yall”

Later that night they were laying in Abi’s living room. The fire created a warmth that calmed down their restless spirits and the darkness outside made it all my warm inside. Abi’s head was laying between her two best friends, a picture perfect moment. “Did you meet any babes while you were away?” Victoria joked. It should have been light hearted but Abi felt her entire body stiffen. Loving him was such a pain. She just wanted it to go back to how it used to her. He didn’t always affect her like this, right? “Actually, I did. Her name was Lucy” abi’s abdominal tighten to the point she thought she would implode.

“Tell us about her!” Victoria screeched as she propped herself up on her forearms. “Well, she is super pretty, and her laugh is hilarious, and she can play football like a guy” Abi shot up. “Umm, ill be back” she murmured but Luke and Victoria were too engaged to notice her absence. Abi locked the bathroom door behind her and set her hands on the edge of the sink. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. The light flickered. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. She peered at her reflection, dissatisfying. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Luke and Victoria’s laughter filled the house. Inhale. Exhale. Abi wasn’t good enough for Luke but Victoria had been. Inhale. Had Abi always loved him? Exhale.
