Mal's POV

'Oh my...' Evie stammered.

'Okay. I don't know how long we haven't been outside, but I'm pretty sure this wasn't what Auradon looked like back then,' I said.

We were standing outside in downtown Auradon City, looking around. Auradon has changed quite a lot indeed. The once blue sky was now replaced with dark threatening clouds. Most buildings, castles and houses were damaged and some of them were even burned down. The beautiful castle of Belle and Beast was now black and spooky. The streets were deserted, because no one had the guts to go outside. All curtains were drawn, but through some of them you could still see a little patch of light. It was like a ghost town.

I held Grace close to me and pulled the blanket a little more over her tiny body. She had been sleeping in my arms from the moment we left the secret room and had probably no idea what was going on.

We finally approached the dark castle at the edge of Auradon City.

'So, the moment of truth,' Fairy Godmother said pulling her wand out of her coat.

I walked to Ben and handed him Grace.

'Mal, are you sure you wanna do this?' Ben asked.

'I have to. We have to get Auradon back and this may be our only chance,' I said.

He nodded. I wanted to walk back to Fairy Godmother, but Ben pulled me back.

'Before you go...' he said and kissed me gently.'Good luck and be carefull.'

I smiled.'It's gonna be okay, I'll be back before you know.'

I gave Grace a kiss on her head, gave one last look at Ben and then turned around and walked to Fairy Godmother.

'You ready?' She asked and I nodded.

We walked inside while the others watched us and stood there hoping it would work out.

Ben's POV

I saw the big heavy wooden door close behind them. Oh, I hoped so this was gonna end well. I would never forgive myself if something were to happen to Mal.

I was deep in thoughts until I felt a little hand grabbing my finger. I looked at Grace. She looked a lot like Mal. The beautiful light blonde hair (Mal's natural haircolor is light blonde, but she prefered purple for herself), bright green eyes and the pale skin. She suddenly opened her little eyes and looked into mine. I smiled to her.

It was still hard to believe that I was actually her dad. Of course I didn't want to be a dad this early and under this circumstances, but she's my daughter - our daughter, so I love her with my whole heart.

My thought were roughly interrupted by a really loud bang that was probably heard by the whole kingdom. I heald Grace tight to me and tried to cover her ears.

I looked at the castle which was now going up in flames.

'Oh no!' Evie yelled.

'They are still inside, aren't they?' Jane asked in shock.

'I-I don't know, maybe they made it outside on time,' Carlos said.

'Long shot at best,' Doug said.

'We have to save them!' Jay yelled.

'We can't do anything, the whole castle is on fire. You can't go inside now,' Beast said.

'There must be something we can do!' Dizzy yelled in tears.

Evie hold Dizzy tightly.

'We can't. We can only hope,' she said and wiped a tear from the side of her face.

I didn't say anything, but just stared at the huge devastating flames with tears flowing from my eyes. And so did the others.

We can only hope.
