5 - An Escape

Freddie had stayed the night at jughead's last night as she couldn't face her dad or Kevin and have to explain why she came back to the house with makeup smeared down her face from crying. She had woken up the next morning feeling much better after breaking up with Reggie over the phone. Yes it seemed pretty immature to do it over the phone but Freddie couldn't bare to see the guy again after what had happened the night before.

As Freddie had finished getting ready for the day her and jughead decided to go for some breakfast at Pop's as it was Saturday. "Thanks for letting me stay over last night jughead it means a lot" the smaller girl said as they walked down the steps of his trailer only to be greeting with Archie Andrews. Freddie was very confused as to why Archie was there and apparently so was Jug. But jughead quickly told the boy he needed to leave before anyone saw him. Unfortunately his warning was too late as Sweetpea appeared right behind him. "What do we have here?" The serpent said. Freddie jumped a bit not seeing Sweetpea at first but as soon as she turned around the two made eye contact. "He was just leaving alright" jughead said quickly. "Wait your friends with these thugs? A are you joining the serpents" Archie asked with a look of betrayal visible on his face. "If he survives, and go ahead and call us thugs one more time" Sweetpea said ready to fight Archie before Freddie stopped him by putting her hand on his chest. The two looked into each other's eyes before Archie yelled in anger "these are the guys who attacked me! Who attacked Reggie and Veronica and dilton! Your friends!!". Freddie became tense at the mention of Reggie's name and Sweetpea seemed to notice as he looked down at her with a look of worry and confusion. "Freddie, Reggie is your boyfriend!" Archie declared still yelling. "not anymore. I don't want anything to do with that jerk" Freddie said with a disgusted look plastered across her face.

Jughead and Archie talked some more as Archie informed Jug that Betty didn't want to see him anymore. Freddie could see the hurt in Jugs face as Archie left. She couldn't believe how rude Archie had been to the boy.

After hanging out with Jughead and Sweetpea for a bit Freddie decided she should probably go home before her dad decided to send out a search party for her.

Once Freddie arrived back at the keller household she was greeting with a hug from her father asking if she was hurt. She told her father the whole story of last night and how her and Reggie had broken up. She decided to skip out the part about hanging out with the serpents because she knew her dad would freak out the most over that. After telling her father about the party Freddie went up to her room to study when her phone buzzed.

Sweetpea: Guess who finally got your number

Freddie: let me guess, is it the Green giant!

Sweetpea: ahaha you caught me.

Freddie: hey sweets 😊

Sweetpea: hello to you too Fredz ;)

Freddie: as fun as you are to be around I have a test tomorrow that I can't afford to fail.

Sweetpea: you think I'm fun huh? 😉

Freddie: I mean yeah. You've got this whole bad boy thing going on and I like it.

Sweetpea: good to know, I'll let you study. See you later ❤️

Freddie: bye pea 😊

Freddie smiled down at her phone before she heard a knocking noise at her door. "Come in". As Reggie mantle entered the room Freddie's smile dropped and instantly turned into a frown. "What do you want Reggie" Freddie said  in a monotone voice. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry, truly, I never should have tried pressuring you into doing something you didn't want to do. I was drunk and selfish." Reggie continued "please forgive me Fred". Freddie looked up at the boy contemplating what to say next. "Reg, I forgive you. But I hope you don't think this means we will get back together again? I just can't" she could see the hope draining from the boys eyes as she finished her sentence. "I it's okay Freddie. I just can't stand you being mad at me" freddie half smiled as she went over to the boy and hugged him.
