6 - Connection

Freddie was sitting in pops after a long day at school enjoying the atmosphere that pops provided. Although Freddie had to admit after Archie's dad being shot the atmosphere had changed a little.

Freddie was quickly pulled out of her thoughts as she heard the door bell chime as none other than the skyscraper himself walked through the door instantly spotting Freddie. As he made his way over to her Freddie became slightly nervous. "Well if it isn't the only decent Northsider in this town" Sweetpea said  "mind if I join you?" He continued with a smile present on his face. Freddie nodded at the boy. "How was your big test?" He asked as he stole a couple fries from her plate. "Stressful, and hey! That's my food." Freddie said before glaring at the boy. Sweetpea chuckled. In that moment Freddie felt her face heating up. His laugh was so attractive was all she could think. She was pulled out of her thoughts as Sweetpea asked if she was okay. All she could do was nod at the boy.

The two talked for a while and were just enjoying each other's company. That is until Reggie mantle entered pops. Sweetpea noticed a sudden change in Freddie's demeanour and he turned around to see her staring at Reggie. Sweetpea had previously met Reggie mantle from when the serpents and the bulldogs had fought outside Archie's house. He turned his head back around to the girl and asked "hey are you ok?" The girls eyes met his as she said "uh yeah". "What happened between you and him Fredz?". The girl seemed hesitant at first to tell him but eventually she said "we used to date until he tried to pressure me into.. doing things. So I dumped him and now I find out he's already dating Josie a day after I ended it with him" she said with a look of hurt in her eyes. Sweetpea could tell she cared for the guy but he didn't like to see Freddie hurt. Despite only knowing her for just over a week he felt a strong connection with her like he needed to protect her from all the evil in the world.

He reached across the table and grabbed her hand gently before saying "we can leave if you want too, it's okay". Freddie was shocked by his sudden action but intertwined her hand with his before smiling and nodding her head at the boy. The two left pops and hung out for the rest of the day at sweet water river.

Freddie felt like she could be herself around Sweetpea and she'd never felt this connected with someone.
