Molly
My alarm goes off, waking me from my sleep. I hate alarms.
Stretching my arms over head with a yawn, I suddenly remember last night's events. A shiver runs down my spine as I remember the girl's eyes flashing golden, and her twisted smile. The way I felt frozen in my spot, barely breathing. The tears that threatened to fall. Genuine fear. But also, surprising familiarity. I want to remember where I know her from, but I want to stop thinking about her.
I audibly sigh as I shake the thoughts from my head. After eating and getting ready for the day, I tie my hair up to get to work. I unpack all of my clothes, first. Then I unpack the rest of my bedding, and stationary, etc. After hanging some fairy lights, plugging in my lamps, putting up pictures, I'm done. And hungry. I missed lunch, but it's not quite dinner, yet. I still need to go grocery shopping, so maybe that'll distract me until dinner.
It's the beginning of fall, so not super cold, but I'll throw a hoodie on, just in case. Grabbing my keys and wallet, I head out of the building. We're not really supposed to have cars the first two years, so everything is walking distance.
I'm stopped at a crosswalk with a group of people when my phone alerts me of a message. It's from an unknown number, but I still open it, just in case it's someone for me. The message reads: long time no see, mamas. Look up. That's strange, but I do look up.
And across the street,
I see the girl from last night, smirking at me with an evil glint in her eyes. My breath hitches, and my heart rate increases. Why is she here? What does she want? Then, the little person appears on the crosswalk light, signaling us to move. Someone shoves me from behind, and I almost fall, but start to walk. Looking back up, I see that she's gone, and let out a sigh of relief. But, as I reach the other side, someone's shoulder bumps into mine harshly. "Sorry," is all the raspy female voice says. I recognize that voice! Immediately remembering who it was, I look up and she's nowhere in sight.Checking my phone, I realize that there was no message. And I understand what's happening. She's back. Billie's back.
