OOH AND PLEASE CHECK OUT HER NEW STORY 'BLOSSOM IN THE BEDROOM' IT'S GONNA BE AWESOME, TRUST ME (I MAY BE BIASED BECAUSE I LOVE HER BUT SHE'S AN AMAZING WRITER ANYWAY SO HUSH)

Rye's POV:

On my 16th birthday 9 dots appeared on my left wrist. I was obviously scared at first until my mum sat me down and explained to me that everyone gets these dots on their 16th birthday, and the fact that I have 9 means that they'll be replaced in 9 years with the name of my soulmate. I guess the idea is that 1 dot disappears every year until they're all eventually gone and then the wait is over, but that's not exactly how my experience went.

I managed to get on with my life normally for about 4 years with one dot obviously disappearing each year like expected, but then one morning I woke up and they were all just gone, and they hadn't been replaced with a name. At that point I had a really strong urge to cry but by then I was already living in the flat with the boys so I held myself together the best that I could and checked my other wrist in case they'd switched for some reason. When I'd double checked and tripled checked that my dots were nowhere to be seen I finally called my mum and begged her to tell me what happened.

I could tell it was bad news right away by the 'Oh honey...' she started with and the strain in her voice clearly from the fact that she was holding back tears like me. She slowly went on to tell me that the only reason some peoples dots disappear is because their soulmate has passed away. I'm not going to lie, that broke me.

Since the very first time I found out what the dots meant I had been preparing myself for the day when I would find the person I was going to spend the rest of my life with, all I've ever wanted was to be loved and to be in love. Maybe I wasn't meant to feel love..

Anyway, the reason I'm thinking about this while I'm supposed to be enjoying Supper Sunday is because the boys are all talking about how long they have until they find out their soulmates name, or in Alex and Robbie's case how amazing their relationships going. Gross

"My last dot should disappear in a couple of days and then I'll finally know my soulmates name" Andy whispers as if almost to himself, although he doesn't sound as excited as I thought he would be. At least he still has a soulmate

"I've given up on ever finding my soulmate" Brook starts "Even when their name appears in 2 years, I don't think I'll ever find them, and even if I do I doubt they'd ever love me back" I know I should feel sorry for him but he honestly says the same thing every time we talk about soulmates and my situations a lot more depressing so I just let the others deal with him

"Well Rob and I didn't think we'd ever find our soulmates but here we are" Alex adds, kissing my brother quickly on the lips to which I obviously fake gag because we're trying to eat dinner here people

"Ignore him, he's just jealous" Jack pipes up, what does he know?!

"I am NOT jealous" I shout back

To which I'm met with a chorus of 'he's so jealous' and 'you so are'. That obviously didn't end up with me storming away from the table and back to my room. I didn't cry at all either

Ok, so it's still a little hard to accept that I'll never be with the one person who was destined to love me eternally but I am working on it. I am

After a well deserved nap I wake up to find Andy perched on the edge of my bed reading a book. I have no idea how long he's been there or when he even learnt to read but I just brush it off and tap him on the shoulder, waiting for him to turn around and tell me what he wants.

He takes his sweet sweet time to turn around, as if we haven't all got better things to do with our life (like nap), and when he does eventually face me he closes his book and places it gently on his lap.

"It's ok to be upset about your soulmate Rye" Andy states, caressing my thigh softly in what I assume to be an attempt to comfort me. I don't know if it works

"I'm fine Andy honestly, you don't need to sit here and try and help" I reply, trying to shuffle away from his hands but not really knowing whether I want to or not.

"I was doing some reading about soulmates" He starts again, flipping the book on his lap over to show me the title. Something deep and philosophical about soulmates I'm assuming, I'm too tired to actually read the long words written in cursive on the front "And apparently if your dots disappear prematurely it doesn't necessarily mean your soulmate has died" That definitely peeked my interest

"Go on..." I encourage him

"Well this scientist who apparently was the first person to go through the exact same thing as you without his soulmate being dead says that if you give up hope that your soulmate will ever love you, your soulmates dots will vanish but you'll still keep yours. So hypothetically, your soulmate may not be dead, that may just believe that you'll never love them"

"Ok that's nice to know and I'm grateful that you've done all this research for me but let's say that my soulmate really is still alive, I literally have no way to know who my soulmate is anymore because their name isn't written on my arm"

"Well your name would be written on theirs still and this book said" I'm sure he carried on speaking some nonsense after that too but I couldn't hear him over the sound of my brain screaming the answer at me

"Oh my god Oh My God OH MY GOD"

"What, Rye, What?"

"It's Brook! It has to be Brook! He's always talking about how his soulmate will never love him back and he'll never find them. I mean I don't know if I really feel that way about him but if he's my soulmate then I guess that's what the universe wants for me. I shouldn't feel disappointed should I? I've been complaining non stop about how I don't have a soulmate and now I know I have one and who it is I shouldn't be picky. But really? Brook? I dunno man"

So I get up out of bed and start walking towards the door to tell Brook that I know he's my soulmate but Andy stops me by quickly grabbing my arm before I can get even two steps from him.

"Rye wait..." I'm not going to lie, I am kind of annoyed he's unwillingly pushed me towards finding my soulmate and now that I've finally worked out who he is he's trying to stop me. Then I look down at him and see it

"Andy.. Why does your wrist say Ryan?"

"It's ok, You don't have to love me"
