•Chapter 21•
•Grace's POV•
It was the morning of most likely my death. I woke up and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. I've grown accustomed to waking up early since it was essential in this world. I've tried my best to go long without sleep, but when you're given a bed and a shower you have to take that opportunity.
I glanced at my watch to see it was about six in the morning. I still had some left over squirrel from last night, so I used that as my breakfast. I was trying my best to avoid any contact with the brothers, especially Daryl so I ate inside my room. After I finished my meal, I started to pack up my things.
The only person who knew about my soon to be absence was Joe and I trust my judgement that he won't go and blab his mouth to Daryl. If he finds out, he'd probably hunt me down and drag me back by my neck. The only thing he needs to be worried about if he killed everyone in Terminus or not.
I trudged down the stairs once I finished with gathering my stuff. I heard Merle talking with everyone about their parts in the scenario that was about to happen. I made sure I listened closely the first time so I wouldn't have to ask for him to repeat it.
I reached the bottom of the steps and everyone looked at me, except for Daryl. "Well, look who's up," Merle scoffed as he adjusted the strap of his assault rifle on his shoulder. I rolled my eyes and walked closer to Joe. For some reason I felt that he was with me in every situation. Whatever I decide, he was riding along in the bandwagon with me.
"It should be about a three hour walk. We should get there about nine and around ten you should start headin' back here." Merle shifted his weight to one foot and turned serious. Everyone nodded their heads and waited for further instructions.
Merle nodded his head towards the door before heading towards the exit. Now, it was time to travel to our death.
---
I stared at the 15 foot fences in awe. With my clumsy self, I'll probably fall within the first few seconds of climbing. Great. We were near the train cars that Mary took us when we first got here. They were rusted to a reddish brown. I heard banging in the distance of people calling for help. Hopefully, we can give it to them soon. If we do take it over, what will we do with them? Will we just let then go and not care or invite them in where they could survive? Well, I'll never know since I'm leaving the first chance I get.
"Ya'll know what y'all have to do," Merle nodded before strapping his assault rifle to his back and clenching the wire fence. The men followed by climbing on the side of him. I was the last one to get over and by then they were all going to their posts.
Joe and his pal's jobs were to cover us while we got the ground. They were going to jump from building to building , but watching our backs at the same time. Merle gave them the safer job since he wanted them to stay and help.
The population of Terminus was about thirty to forty. We could take them using stealth and silence. I gave Merle one of my knives so he wouldn't have to use his rifle to gun down anyone. Daryl had his crossbow and I had my spare pistol along with my throwing knives. Hopefully we can just kill them all and not have to take any hostages.
I heard Daryl slightly whistle snapping me out of my thoughts. He was crouched low with Merle looking right ahead of us. I tiptoed closer to him and waited for them to move forward. I glanced up to see Joe and the other's at the rooftops waiting on us. Merle took a few steps starting the raid.
I lagged behind walking backwards looking for any stragglers. I was immediately stopped by something in my path. I turned around with my knife cocked back only to realize it was Daryl. He ignored my bumping into him and only focused in what was ahead, a man with his back turned to us.
