There was a dark figure moping about the floor. Small, with two waving antennae and hard shell, it was an insect. Cockroach!
I pounced on it. I slowly peeled my foot (wearing a shoe) off the insect. Its body was clearly segmented into three - but not from my landing. It was an adolescent click beetle. A beetle wrongly killed for being mistaken for a cockroach.
