T.j's P.O.V

8/9/2018

"T.j! T.j there you are your father's been looking for you." Someone's voice woke him up from his peaceful sleep. T.j attempted to sit up and look around but was stopped by a heavy weight on his chest. Reed's head "Hey, someone's here can you move please?" T.j whispered to Reed and he rolled off of T.j's chest and into the deeper part of the couch. T.j looked around. Lester's aunt? What was she doing here? "Hey Aunt Carol, what are you doing in my house?" T.j asked as he sleepily rubbed his eye's. "Have you not been checking your phone?" She asked. "No, I lost it." T.j answered as Reed moaned and grabbed a pillow, putting it over his head.

Aunt Carol heaved a sigh and sat down on a foot stool nearby. "I don't think I should be the one to tell you this." She started and T. J sat up a little taller and Reed moved the pillow off his face. "Your mom was hit by a car." T. J thought she said something after that but he zoned out. Reed woke up fully and grabbed his hand.

Before T.j could register what she'd told him, he was in the car with Aunt Carol driving to the hospital. This couldn't be happening, he told himself. It couldn't! But, it was.  When they got there Carol dropped them off then went to park. T.j ran inside with Reed. He saw a lady at a desk and rad up to it. "I'm T.j Kippen do you know what room my mom's in, Sara Anne Halsey-Kippen?" The lady went through some papers, "Um, yes room 311." T.j ran to the stairs, it would be faster then an elevator. "Thank you!" Reed said to the lady then followed after T.j.

T.j didn't really register running up the flights, or the people stepping aside to let him past. He didn't notice the nurses and doctors. The old people and the young. He didn't remember what color the walls were or the words coming out of his mouth. Soon he was throwing open the door to room 311. His dad was in a chair but he didn't see his mom. "Thomas" his dad said as soon as he saw him. He got up from his chair. "Ware's mom?" T.j hurriedly asked. "She's in surgery. She broke three ribs and they think she has a concussion but believe she'll be okay." After he had said this T.j ran to hug his dad. "I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault Teej." His dad and boyfriend said at the same time. "Ware were you last night anyway? And, why is Reed here?" T.j drew slightly out of the hug at the inquiry.  "We went out with Lester and met up with some friends and went to Waffle House. I think I left my phone in the bathroom. Reed wanted to sleep over." T.j had prepared the story on the way home the night before. "I get lonely." Reed added. You get cold and like to cuddle too, T.j thought. Cyrus, T.j's new friend got cold to. T.j had purposely left Cyrus his warmest grey hoodie last week. He wondered what Cyrus would think if he knew half of the stuff T.j did.

T.j awkwardly stepped away from his dad. "Reed, why are you wearing my sun glasses?" T.j's dad asked. T.j looked at Reed. It was funny looking at him. He was in T.j's clothes that were to big for him, jeans a red t and a green hoodie. He also had a pair of sun glasses on that were T.j's dad's and a coffee in one hand. "Uh, the sun blinds me. Sir." Reed took off the sun glasses and walked over to the father son duo. "You can have them back." Reed shyly offered. T.j hated to see Reed be so scared of his dad but thought it was kind of funny too. "Do you think I need permission to take sunglasses from you?" T.j's dad was a lawyer, and very intimidating. "No sir." Reed quickly handed the glasses to T.j's dad.

Everything was happy and awkward even after what had happened to his mom. T.j wanted to replay that hour and a half of father, son, secret boyfriend conversations for the rest of his life. Before the doctor came in and told them about his mom. How she didn't make it. Before T.j was scared by a few words. Before he saw his dad cry for the first time. Before he knew he was an awful son. Before he spiraled. Before everything became terrible. Before the breakup. Before everything went downhill.

It was impossible to do that though. With in an hour and a half the doctor came in and told his dad. Soon enough T.j stood with his dad and Reed staring at his mom's body. She had died during surgery. It had been the car T.j and Reed were in the night before. It had been a hit and run outside of aunt Carol's house. The car T. j was in just the night before. He had killed his mom. He had gone to a party, got wasted, stayed out to late and his mom had gone to Lester's house to wait for him because he thought he would be going to his house and she wanted him to come home. It was his fault that his mom laid in front of him. He felt someone's hand touch his and intertwine his fingers with there's. It was Reed. T.j should've left him at his house. Reed could've walked home.

T.j looked more like his mom then his dad. He had her eye's and hair. Her nose and smile.

It was his fault she was gone. T.j thought he would never be the same after that day. He was broken. He always had been but now the ultimate damage had been done. Or, at least what he thought was the ultimate damage had been done.

I finally decided on how to spell T.j. Also I'm not currently working on writing a chapter which I normally am when I publish but um... I'll come out with one asap! I hope you like this one and didn't cry.
