*Beep beep beep beep beep......* I groaned and slammed my hand down onto my alarm clock. I groggily got up and looked at the time.

7:40

Why was I awake at this ungodly hour? My eyes fell on the calendar I'd put up and my eyes widen as I realized today was a school day!

I sprang out of bed, grabbed my towel and clothes and washed up in record time before heading downstairs. As I did, I took my phone out to check my messages...only to see that it was only 7:30.

I stopped. What the heck? I thought it was 7:50 already? Then I remembered how I made it a habit to set my alarm clock ahead of time to make myself get up. Oh well, at least I won't be late on the first day.

I made my way to the kitchen and saw Edward sitting there eating a sandwich while tinkering with a small device and Aunt Selina sipping coffee in a police uniform. Before you ask, my aunt is a policewoman. She's been one for at least 25 years. She wanted to settle down but couldn't find it in herself to quit, she's dedicated to her job the same way Ed is to tech and I am to gymnastics and Taekwondo so her chief appointed her to Jasper, Nevada, one of the quieter places.

"Morning Aunt Selina. Morning Ed." I greeted.

"Morning." Ed replied without looking up from his tinkering. Aunt Selina sighed and gently whacked his head.

"No tech stuff on the table, remember?" she gently scolded him. "Good morning, Eve. Sleep well?" she asked me.

I nodded. It was a bit hard at first since I'm used to the usual small noises in England, I always had a way to block them out and I'd go to sleep hearing the 'tick tock tick tock' of the grandfather clock in one of the hallways and the occasional tinkle from the wind chimes in the backyard.

But I can adapt.

I sat down and dug into a ham and cheese sandwich. I was glad to find some Ribena on the table. Coke was okay and all but I prefer Ribena.

Aunt Selina set her mug of coffee down and got up. "I have to leave for work now, sorry but I hafta take the car. The police one broke down. Hope you guys don't mind." She said.

"Don't worry about it, we'll just go to school on foot. We've memorized the way." Ed said. I nodded.

"We'll be fine. It'll make good exercise." I chimed in. Back in England, we'd drive halfway to school then walk or ride the rest on foot if it was early.

"Ok then, remember to lock the door and stay safe. Have a nice day at school kids. Try to make some new friends and study hard, 'kay? Bye!" Aunt Selina said before she put her police cap on and left.

After clearing up the dishes, we made our way back to our separate rooms to grab our required school supplies.

I entered my room and grabbed my favourite galaxy patterned schoolbag and other supplies.
