the falls of autumn

chapter 6

Autumn POV
beginning of sophomore year.

School has really been trying me lately. I show up and do what I'm told and I don't bother anyone while doing so. Now they still aren't satisfied. I've literally gotten to the point where I go to school in my pajamas, Marie hasn't been that around lately and I don't think she's really noticed.

I have.

I've never really been a popular girl nor have I liked crowds. I understand if my friend nowadays have other things to worry about than little ole me. I get that. I don't blame her either.

The bell rings while I'm still in my thoughts. My teacher says to read chapter seven through thirteen in the book we are reading, well I've already finished the book so that's great. Milo has been dealing with his family's business so I haven't been able to talk to him as much. I hate to say it but I actually miss him. I don't know why, I've never had this feeling for someone besides Marie really so I don't know. What I do know is that I do not have a crush on Milo.

No. Not at all. Never. We are just friends.

I walk down the halls to my locker. I open my locker and grab my books out and head to my last class. I'm walking and this kid bumps into me. Seriously.

I fall, literally my books make the loudest noise, and my pencil pouch was open so some of the pencils go all over the floor along with me and my no so favorite person who bumped into me.

I quickly grab my pencils and I reach for my books but the person already has them. I look up and meet two dark brown eyes. I take a quick breath. No, I've meet enough males for a lifetime. The male says," Oh, uh, sorry for bumping into you.." It's okay." I grab my books from him,"Thanks," I walk away and before I turn the corner, I turn around to meet the brown eyed stranger. We meet each other gaze and I turn back around and go to class.

The teacher is teaching about something that I already know and read in a book so I'm just doodling in my notebook. The teach notices and says, "Autumn, what's the genotype for their offspring-"
I noticed they wrote their punnet square wrong.

"The genotype says two homozygous parents so the mother could not be dominant and recessive."

The teacher looks back at the problem and turns back to me, then the bell rings.

Great timing bell.

I grab my books not bothering to look for the homework and head to my locker.

I open my locker and a note drops out.

Meet me by the field after school.

no. I'm not  going to be that girl in the books who meets the boy after school and he turns into something that she never thought was a possibility and they make up in the end and have a kid named Ember Haven.

Nothing against people names Ember or Haven, but that's not going to be me.

I have a date with my dog and my bed.

I go outside along with everyone else and wait for my mom. My dad is out of town on a meeting and Felix is gone to college so it's just mom and I for a bit.

I see my mom but she's in a different car, weird.

I get in and my mom says," Before you ask, yes, my sweet Charlie, I got a new car today." Why?" Felt spontaneous." Okay then mom.." Oh wanna go to that new workout place with me I heard they have the best instructors. I'm going with one of our new neighbors. The Greens are lovely and are just the sweetest little family ever. Oh and they have a son your age!! You have to meet him, he goes to your school. I think today was his first day too!" Cool mom I'm glad you have a new friend for me personally I'm not really ready for all these new people but I will meet him if that's what makes you happy." My mom smiles and I open my book and begin reading.

While on the way home, mom says," Oh honey, his name is Marls." Marls?" Yes, his name is Marles, his mothers are lovely as well you just have to meet them. The bought the house beside us and renovated it into the cute home. It's beautiful." Wow, they sound wonderful. "

We finally are at home and I run in to meet Butter napping. Aww

I go to my room and throw on some comfy grey shorts and an old Disney shirt. I don't like wearing the clothes I wear to school throughout the rest of the day because school just has this smell and just no.

I head down stairs for a snack and I see my mom talking to a woman. She has her dark dyed purple hair in pigtails and a loose grey workout shirt with bright green shorts.

Is this the mom that mom was talking about?

My mom turns to me" Oh Charlie ! This is Ember, Mrs. Green from next door I was telling you about!": Ember waves, I smile back. I walk toward the fridge for an apple juice. Mom continues, " Embers 's wife Cally is going to workout with us too! Wait Ember you guys have a dog right?" Ember says," Yeah, we have a chocolate poodle namedmbrownie and a lab named Bubbles." My mom says," Aw, they sound precious. What if Char and Marls went out and took Butter, Brownie, and Bubblies out for a walk. O my gosh the three bs!"

Dear great golly-

"Great idea! I think there's a pet friendly pizza place down the street too where the dogs can play while you eat so they can eat dinner too! We can grab some dinner after our workout." Great idea Ember!" Now Autumn go get ready and find Butter's leach Marls will be here soon!"
I give my mom the itoldyouidontwantanynewfriendswhyareyoudoingthistome face But she just smiles.

I reluctantly go upstairs and take off my comfy short for some athletic shorts instead. I put on my socks that's say potatoes are people too and my white crocs. And yes, I put them in sport mode.

My huge Disney shirt covers my shorts but people should know what logical person wearing an oversized shirt does not wear shorts, but to insure I don't get the mom look, I push a little of the shirt into the shorts that will most likely fall out but what's my mother does not know won't hurt her, I head more voices downstairs and I know that they are here,

okay Autumn you got this let's go meet some humans, and I grab Butter's leach and head toward the kitchen.
